DILSHAD GARDEN, DELHI: Municipal Councillor Veer Singh Panwar conducted a surprise inspection of the C Block DDA Market in Dilshad Garden to review sanitation, cleanliness, maintenance and other civic facilities. Officials from various departments of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) accompanied him during the inspection.

During the visit, several shortcomings were reportedly identified. Panwar issued strict directions to the concerned officials to take immediate corrective measures and ensure that such deficiencies do not recur. He emphasised that maintaining cleanliness, improving civic amenities and providing a pleasant shopping environment must remain a priority.

The councillor said efforts were underway to give the C Block DDA Market a renewed and more attractive appearance. He stressed that shoppers should not face inconvenience and that the market should be developed into a clean, well-maintained and organised commercial complex.
Residents Raise Concerns Over Liquor Outlet, Alleged Nuisance
A major concern raised by market association representatives and local residents during the inspection was the alleged nuisance around a liquor outlet in the area.
Residents complained that some individuals allegedly consume alcohol in public, create disturbances and engage in frequent altercations near the outlet. They said such incidents affect the market’s atmosphere, obstruct the movement of pedestrians and cause particular discomfort to women passing through the area.
The residents maintained that the outlet should function strictly as a place for the sale of liquor and that public drinking, unruly behaviour and disturbances in the surrounding area should be prevented.
Taking note of the complaints, Councillor Veer Singh Panwar immediately contacted the Station House Officer (SHO) of GTB Enclave Police Station and brought the matter to the police’s attention. He sought appropriate intervention to address the concerns raised by traders and residents.
Pawar assured those present that necessary steps would be pursued in coordination with the police to prevent a recurrence of such incidents. Increasing police patrolling in the area and strengthening law-and-order arrangements were also highlighted as important measures to ensure a safer environment for shopkeepers, customers, women and other visitors.
Market Boundary, Sewer Cleaning Also Discussed
The market association representatives also drew the councillor’s attention to issues concerning the market boundary, sewer cleaning and other basic civic facilities. They urged the authorities to address these matters on priority to improve the overall condition of the commercial complex.
Pawar directed the concerned civic officials to take the complaints seriously and initiate the necessary corrective measures. He reiterated the need for effective coordination between departments to improve sanitation, maintenance and public convenience.

MCD Officials, Market Association Members Attend Inspection
Officials from various MCD departments were present during the inspection, along with market association representatives Pradeep Kumar, Saurabh Bhatnagar, Rajkumar, Kamal and Master Ji.
Others present included Pankaj Balyan, General Secretary of the Dilshad Garden BJP Mandal; Deepak Sagar, Mandal Vice-President; BJP youth leader Shanky Khurana; Sikander; and several local social workers.
The inspection covered civic deficiencies, sanitation arrangements, market infrastructure and concerns relating to public safety. Residents and traders expressed hope that the intervention would lead to tangible improvements in the market’s upkeep and help address the reported disturbances.
The broader objective, according to the issues discussed during the visit, is to develop the C Block DDA Market into a cleaner, more attractive and better-organised commercial hub, while ensuring a safer and more convenient environment for the local community.
