Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar said that with the Rouse Avenue trial court sending former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on a 14-day judicial custody to Tihar Jail on the expiry of his 7-day CBI custody in the liquor scam case, his role in the liquor scam has been proved. He said that Delhi has now become a “Capital of Scams” (Ghottale Ki Rajdhani) as former Health Minister Satyender Jain has been languishing in Tihar Jail for the past nine months in a money laundering case, though he was also involved in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped liquor policy, at the behest of master mind of the scam, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. He said that the court’s decision to send Sisodia to 14-day judicial custody has established that there was strong evidence against him in the liquor scam.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that in the past 10 years, the Kejriwal Government created a sort of world record in committing scams without fulfilling any of the promises made to the people. He said that with former Ministers Satyender Jain and Manish Sisodia lodged in the Tihar Jail, with the next turn being that of Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister would be forced to run Delhi Government from Tihar Jail.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that Arvind Kejriwal, who came to power promising a corruption-free and transparent Government, has been caught in 10 major scams for the past 10 years, starting with former Minister Jitender Tomar’s fake certificate case, ration scam and now Sisodia’s judicial custody for the liquor scam. He said that before the liquor scam, the Kejriwal Government was caught in the DTC low-floor bus purchase and maintenance scam, toilet-complex construction scam, class-room construction scam, advertisement scam, Delhi Jal Board scam, power subsidy scam, hospital scam, CCTV scam and Pusa farm decomposer scam.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that Delhi Congress had written a letter to the Lt. Governor seeking his intervention to prevent tainted MLAs Saurav Bharadwaj and Atishi being made Ministers to fill up the vacancies following the resignations of jailed Ministers Jain and Sisodia, as they were also party to the implementation of the corrupt liquor policy, and that was the reason Kejriwal forwarded their names to the LG for making them Ministers, instead of choosing two honest MLAs from among the 62 AAP legislators. Ch. Anil Kumar said it was the misfortune of the people of Delhi that Kejriwal could not rise above his mindset of heading an NGO, as his petty politicking, corruption and squandering of the taxpayers’ money for his personal comforts and luxury have inflicted irreversible setback to Delhi’s development and progress.
