Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar said that the Delhi Government’s empty boast of being fully prepared to tackle water-logging was fully exposed when the first sharp monsoon showers today created water-logging and traffic jams, not only across Delhi, but also near Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s office at ITO, where traffic was held up for hours together due to water-logging.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who holds the PWD portfolio, had claimed a few days ago that the “Delhi Government was ready to combat water-logging on a war footing and it was focusing on solving the problem with micro planning”, but his boast fell flat today as rain water flooded streets today. He said that no work gets done at the ground level as both Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia only mouth lies to fool the people, as water-logging on Thursday created traffic snarls and road congestion. He said that water-logging resulted due to choked drains as the desilting works had not been properly carried out before the rains hit the Capital.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that Sisodia had assured the citizens of Delhi that “they won’t have to face any such problem as the PWD engineers have made complete arrangements to prevent water-logging” but Thursday’s water-logging and traffic jams today called the bluff of Sisodia, as it proved that the AAP Government was ill-prepared to face the monsoon rains. He said that with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal being on perpetual tour outside the State for expanding his political turf, Delhiites are suffering with none to address their woes.
