Synopsis: Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar asked what was the purpose of holding a two-day monsoon session of the Delhi Assembly when no meaningful discussion on topical issues concerning the lives of the people of Delhi was held? He said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind had called special sessions of the Delhi Assembly for unimportant issues that served his interest in the past, but when the monsoon session was called, important issues were side-tracked, like the Modi Government does in Parliament, to avoid censure of the non-performance, incompetence and corruption of the Delhi Government.

Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that people expected the Assembly session to unanimously pass a resolution to extend financial help to people stressed out by the Covid-19 pandemic and long lockdowns, which had robbed people of jobs and livelihoods. He said that due to the jump in the prices of petroleum products, the prices of all essential goods have gone up sharply, creating extreme difficulties for women to run the household affairs.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that it was surprising that Chief Minister Arvind took no  initiative to discuss the Pegasus snooping issue, which affected every category of people in the country, including Congress leader Shri Rahul Gandhi and the media, but the Aam Aadmi Party Government seemed not bothered by the intrusion into the personal space of prominent, influential citizens of the country by the insecure Modi-Amit Shah combine, who used a foreign spyware to snoop on not only people critical of their wayward ways, but also Ministers of the BJP Government,  judges and   top bureaucrats.

Ch. Anil Kumar demanded that Chief Minister Arvind call a special session of the Delhi Assembly to discuss the Pegasus snooping, as it concerned freedom of speech and liberty of the people, and also compromised national security.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that it was shocking that the Assembly session also did not discuss the Arvind Government’s failure to manage the Covid pandemic, including oxygen and drug shortage, as thousands of people, including a large number of youths, who were at the prime of their lives, became Covid fatalities. He said that the Arvind Government has not learnt any lessons from the bungling of the fourth wave of the Covid surge, as no discussion was held about the Government’s preparation for the next wave of the pandemic (if that happens).

Ch. Anil Kumar said that other important issues like shortage of drinking water and water-logging were also not discussed as a discussion on these issues  would have uncovered the failings, incompetence and corruption of the Arvind Government, which survives on the strength of lies, falsehood and feeding people with  misleading information, almost on a daily basis.
