Synopsis: Ms. Alka Lamba said that after making himself a nuisance in Punjab, Gujarat, UP, Goa etc, as there too he had promised everything free, to replant the so-called fake “Delhi Model of Development”, including “free power,” though electricity is in short supply in Delhi, as power cuts have become a norm, rather than an exception. She said that Chief Minister Arvind has perfected the art of writing letters, whether it was to Prime Minister Modi, asking for more free oxygen supply, free vaccines and free hospital beds, or the Haryana Chief Minister, pleading with him to release more water, instead of taking a hands-on approach to find solutions to Delhi’s pressing problems himself, as all Chief Ministers do.
Former MLA and senior leader Ms. Alka Lamba said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind seems to have plenty of time to meddle in the affairs of other States, to expand the reach of the Aam Aadmi Party’s political turf, but not for serving the people of Delhi, who have been starving for potable water and regular power supply, as the dry taps and sweaty days due to frequent power cuts, have made life unbearable in the National Capital. She said that despite a litre of petrol costing over Rs 100 in Delhi, CM Arvind has neither reduced VAT (Value Added Tax) on petrol and diesel in Delhi, nor taken up the issue with the Central Government, to reduce the fuel prices. She said that Delhi Congress, under the leadership of Ch. Anil Kumar, have been protesting on the streets demanding roll back of the fuel prices. Ch. Anil Kumar also wrote a letter to Arvind, asking him what steps the Delhi Government had taken to reduce the fuel prices, and why they were not protesting against the Modi Government for the hikes in the prices of petrol and diesel, but Arvind is yet to respond.
Addressing a press conference at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan here today, Ms. She said that after failing to click with his fake promises in other States, CM Arvind has now targeted Uttarkhand, which goes to Assembly polls next year, to give political wings to his failed “Delhi model”, though there is no end to the woes of Delhiites as Chief Minister Arvind is either hiding in his palatial official residence, or visiting other States. Shri Parvez Alam was also present at the Press Conference.
Ms. Alka Lamba said that the Arvind Government discarded its door-step delivery of ration to the poor, saying that the Lt. Governor denied permission for it. She said that now over 10 lakh families, consisting of nearly 54 lakh members, who have no ration cards as their applications for new ration cards have been pending with the Arvind Government, have to queue up outside ration shops to get ration. She said that the poor people, without jobs and any source of livelihood as the Corona virus infections have destroyed countless number of families in every possible way, have no other option but to go through this hardship to keep themselves alive.
Ms. Alka Lamba said that when Delhiites are waiting with bated breath for a possible third wave of the Corona virus infection, which may affect children the most, the Arvind Government has run short of the Covid vaccines, forcing people to approach Private Hospitals to get costly jabs. She said that Delhi was one of the worst Covid-hit cities in the world, and in the second wave, which witnessed a terrible death toll, thousands of people died between May and June, for lack of oxygen, medicines and hospital beds. She said that children have lost almost two years of academic session as many children have not been able to pursue on-line classes, and no responsible parents would send their children out, if fool-proof measures are not taken urgently to arrest the Covid virus spread.
Ms. Alka Lamba said that though monsoon rains have been inordinately delayed in Delhi this time, the Delhi Government and the Municipal Corporations have not yet even begun/or completed the desilting works, which should have been completed by May end, as is the usual practice. She said that the desilting works involve corruption to the tune of hundreds of crores, yet proper desilting work is never carried out, and wherever some half-hearted works have been done, the wastes taken out from the drains remain on the edges of the drains, which then flows back into the drains when it rains, to create water-logging at the slightest hint of rain, as had happened recently, exposing the lies of the Arvind Government. She said that the irresponsible attitude of CM Arvind toward Delhi was clearly evident when he abstained from the Apex Committee meeting on June 23, 2021 to evaluate the desilting works.
Ms. Alka Lamba said that due to the worst unemployment rate ever faced in Delhi, worst pollution levels, and every other possible “worst” categories affecting Delhi, including dirty water, people have been overwhelmed with problems, and it’s time he stayed put in Delhi to address the Capital’s problems. She said that all these past seven years, CM Arvind survived on the strength of lies and falsehood, and publicity stunts at enormous cost to the exchequer, as over Rs 805 crores had been squandered on publicity alone, and Rs 467 crores have been allocated for publicity this year.
Ms. Alka Lamba said that CM Arvind has destroyed Delhi in every possible manner, and he was now trying to ape the fake “Delhi Model” in other States too, to squander the public money there too, as he is not someone who works for the welfare of the people, or competent or efficient in governance. Instead, his only aim is to find new sources to add crores to the Aam Aadmi Party kitty.
