Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar said that the Legal and Human Rights Department of the DPCC got bail for the three innocent farmers, who were arrested in connection with the Tractor Rally by the farmers on 26th January 2021, and not by Akali Dal leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa, who falsely claims credit for the same by releasing a video that the Sikh Gurudwara Prabandh Committee got them bails, which is a travesty of truth. He said that when the Modi Government passed the three anti-farmer black Agricultural Laws, the Akali Dal had voted for the Bills in Parliament. Ch. Anil Kumar said that Delhi Congress strongly condemns Sirsa’s claim by twisting and misrepresenting facts.

He said that the lawyers of our department provided legal help to the farmers who were arrested and jailed for no crime of theirs, by getting bails for  Lovepreet Singh, Ramandeep Singh and Jaswinder, who are residents of Mansa, Punjab.

Others present at the Press Conference were advocated Sajid Ali Choudhary,  Advocate  Harish Gola, Advocate Satish Solanki, Advocate Sushil Ahlawat, Advocate Naiem Heena Jahan, Advocate Vineeta Singh, Advocate Ranjeet Kumar, Advocate  A.V. Shukla and Shri Ram Kumar. 

Adv. Sunil Kumar said that our of a team of lawyers has been giving free legal aid to farmers in every district court in Delhi since December 2020. He made it clear that our department has been providing legal help to innocent farmers, and not to those who are actively involved in the violence in Delhi on Republic Day. He further noted that on 4th February 2021, our department filed a petition in the National Human Rights Commission, demanding that water, power and toilet facilities should be restored to the farmers at the border points, and the NHRC took cognizance of the complaint and issued notices to the Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana Governments.

Advocate Vikas Yadav, general secretary of the Legal and Human Rights Department of the DPCC, said that since 27th of January, 2021, family members of all the three arrested farmers were constantly in touch with him. He said that he, along with other legal team members of the Dwarka District Court, filed the bail petition of the three arrested farmers, and got a favourable order on 8th February 2021. He said that Sirsa has nothing to do with this case, and he is falsely claiming credit by circulating a doctored video.
