Legal and Human Rights Department of the DPCC appeals to the Human Rights Commission to constitute a team immediately to visit the Delhi borders to assess for themselves the plight of the farmers, and issue necessary directions to the Delhi, UP and Haryana Governments and the Delhi Police, to give the farmers all the necessary basic facilities.
The Legal and Human Rights Department (LHRD) of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, headed by Adv. Sunil Kumar, today filed a complaint before the National Human Rights Commission against the Delhi, UP and Haryana Governments, and the Delhi Police Commissioner, for putting hurdles and cutting off water, power, medical and toilet services to the farmers, protesting at the Delhi borders, demanding the repeal of the three anti-farmer black Agricultural Laws, arbitrarily passed by the Modi Government at the Centre.
The delegation of Legal Human Rights Department of DPCC met NHRC officials and apprised them of the plight of the farmers at the Delhi borders, and appealed to the commission to immediately constitute an NHRC team to visit the Delhi borders and assess for themselves the poor condition of the farmers due to lack of water, power, medical and toilet facilities, and necessary directions be issued to the Delhi, Haryana and UP Governments and Delhi Police, to give them these facilities.
The LHRD delegation informed the Human Rights Commission that it was inhuman to deny basic essential facilities to the farmers, who have been protesting since November 23, 2020. Adv. Sunil Kumar said that over 155 farmers have so far sacrificed their lives for the farmers’ cause, and if water and toilet facilities are denied to the protesting farmers, it will not only create a serious health hazard to people all around, but will also be a gross violation of “human and fundamental rights” of the agitating farmers, including many senior citizens, including men and women, and their families.
