Ch. Anil Kumar said that the coming bye-elections will be an opportunity for the people of Delhi to express their ire at both the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party governments, who have been indulging in shadow boxing, trading charges and counter-charges in the past seven years, without doing any work beneficial to Delhiites. He said that even during the Corona pandemic crisis, Corona Warriors like doctors, nurses, paramedics, sanitation workers and teachers had to strike work to get their salaries and arrears.

He said that MCDs had alleged that they could not pay the wages of the employees due to non-transfer of funds due to them by the Arvind Government. He said that even now, a section of sanitation workers were on strike demanding their salary, while Delhi stinks with piled up garbage everywhere. Ch. Anil Kumar asked what happened to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s much-publicised “Swach Bharat Abhiyan”, as Delhi has become a huge garbage dump, under the very nose of the Prime Minister.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that when Congress was in power in Delhi for 15 years, there was never any problem with the MCDs regarding funds, even when BJP was in power at the Corporation. He said that the Arvind Government, on the other hand, was playing politics in fund transfer, as it owes around Rs 7000 crores to the Corporations, based on the recommendations of the Fifth Finance Commission. He said that it was shocking that the BJP and AAP were indulging in petty politics by toying with the lives of the people when people are stressed out due to the Corona pandemic crisis .

Ch. Anil Kumar said that the “Phol Khol” padayatra will expose the corruption and misuse of funds in the MCDs, as the Municipal Corporations have become a bottomless pit,  with no clear account of the crores of rupees expended by them. Ch. Anil Kumar said that it was shocking and distressing to note that despite BJP ruling the Municipal Corporations, not a rupee has been allocated to the MCDs in the Union Budget, whereas the Union Finance Minister has been very liberal in fund allocation to Municipal bodies in the BJP-ruled states like Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
