Despite Pravesh Verma’s Assurance, No Major Improvement in Mansarovar Park

Three-month deadline for lift and new underpass work passes; residents express growing disappointment

Residents of the Manasarovar Park and Shahdara underpass area continue to face difficulties related to basic infrastructure and public connectivity, despite assurances given by Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Pravesh Verma during a recent visit to the area.


During a public meeting, Verma had assured residents that work on installing a lift and developing another underpass would be initiated within three months to address long-standing connectivity concerns. However, several months have reportedly passed without the expected progress on the ground, leaving local residents disappointed.


Residents seek action beyond announcements
Local social worker and advocate Surendra Singh said that he had previously submitted representations to the concerned departments and administration seeking solutions to issues related to the underpass and metro connectivity in the area.


According to Singh, despite repeated representations, several key issues remain unresolved. He, however, acknowledged that one positive development has taken place: e-rickshaws have stopped entering the underpass area, helping reduce traffic congestion that was previously a regular problem.


Time-bound implementation sought
Singh said that public issues should not remain confined to announcements and official assurances. Residents continue to face daily difficulties while commuting through the area, making timely implementation of promised infrastructure projects essential.
He urged the administration and concerned departments to ensure regular monitoring and time-bound execution of projects announced for the locality.


Demand for better metro connectivity
Singh also called for the proposed lift and underpass works to be expedited and demanded that Manasarovar Park Metro Station be properly connected with the Manasarovar Park locality to improve accessibility for residents and daily commuters.
He said that strengthening connectivity and basic infrastructure would provide significant relief to pedestrians, senior citizens, commuters and local residents.


“People want results, not just assurances”
Singh stressed that residents are looking for visible results on the ground rather than repeated announcements.
“Once a public representative gives a time-bound assurance, the concerned departments should ensure that the commitment is followed by concrete action within the stipulated period,” he said.


He urged the government and administration to bridge the gap between promises and implementation and take immediate steps to resolve the pending issues in the Manasarovar Park area.
