Medical Superintendent Dr. Sunita Kujur Hoists National Flag on Independence Day; Appeals for Clean, Safe and Patient-Friendly Hospital

Delhi: Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm at Swami Dayanand Hospital, Dilshad Garden, under the Delhi Municipal Corporation. The national flag was proudly hoisted at the hospital premises, filling the atmosphere with a strong sense of patriotism, national unity and public service.

Medical Superintendent Dr. Sunita Kujur hoisted the national flag and extended warm Independence Day greetings to doctors, nursing staff, paramedical personnel, administrative employees, patients and their attendants. The flag-hoisting ceremony was followed by the National Anthem, with participants reaffirming their commitment to the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the nation.

Nursing school students added to the patriotic spirit by presenting ‘Vande Mataram’ with great enthusiasm. The programme was attended by Additional Medical Superintendent Dr. Prashant Jain, Dr. R.K. Mehta, Dr. Kalpana Kumar, Dr. Gaurav Sharma, Dr. Chatterjee, Dr. Yanglala, and Puneet Upadhyay, President of the Swami Dayanand Nursing Union, besides doctors, nursing and paramedical staff, security personnel and sanitation workers.

‘Independence Is Also a Commitment to Responsibility’

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sunita Kujur said that independence is not merely about rights but also about accepting and fulfilling responsibilities. Every person associated with healthcare has a duty to contribute towards providing patients with better treatment, compassionate care and quality medical services.

She said the government is continuously working to strengthen hospitals by improving treatment facilities, modern diagnostic services and essential healthcare resources. The hospital administration, she added, remains committed to making the best possible use of available resources and ensuring convenient and quality healthcare for patients.

‘The Hospital Belongs to All of Us’

Dr. Kujur made a special appeal to patients and their attendants to cooperate in maintaining cleanliness and discipline on the hospital premises.

She said the hospital is not merely the responsibility of the administration and employees; it is a shared public space belonging to patients, attendants and the entire hospital community. Maintaining its cleanliness, dignity and pleasant environment is therefore a collective responsibility.

She urged patients and attendants to maintain cleanliness and extend cooperation to doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers. According to her, coordinated efforts by the administration, medical staff, employees, patients and attendants can significantly improve both the quality of healthcare services and the overall patient experience in government hospitals.

The gathering saluted the Tricolour and pledged to contribute collectively towards the country’s progress, prosperity and the creation of a healthier India. The celebration conveyed a powerful message that healthy citizens, clean hospitals and a strong healthcare system are essential foundations of a developed and self-reliant India.
