New Delhi: Welcoming the Delhi Cabinet’s approval of the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, Dr. Anil Gupta, Chief Spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Delhi Pradesh, described the scheme as a historic and compassionate initiative that will usher in a new era of economic security, confidence and dignity for lakhs of women in the national capital.

Dr. Gupta said the approval of the scheme reflects the BJP government’s commitment to fulfilling the promises made to women during the Delhi Assembly elections. He noted that the government has once again demonstrated that it believes not only in making commitments but also in implementing them within a defined timeframe.

Highlighting the broader vision behind the initiative, Dr. Gupta said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several landmark programmes aimed at empowering women have been successfully implemented across the country. The Delhi Government, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, is now carrying forward the same vision by introducing the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana.

According to Dr. Gupta, the decision to provide ₹2,500 per month to eligible women is a significant step towards enhancing their financial independence and long-term security. He said the scheme is not merely a financial assistance programme but a measure designed to strengthen women’s self-respect, social security and the economic stability of their families.

He further stated that the government has incorporated clear eligibility criteria and a transparent implementation mechanism to ensure that the benefits reach genuinely deserving women. The system, he said, will promote accountability, prevent misuse of public resources and ensure that assistance is delivered without discrimination.

Dr. Gupta added that the Delhi Government is simultaneously focusing on a wider agenda of women’s empowerment through initiatives promoting children’s education, nutrition, immunisation, skill development, digital inclusion and participation in self-help groups. He described the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana as a comprehensive empowerment programme rather than a scheme limited to direct financial support.

Emphasising the government’s governance model, Dr. Gupta said the Delhi Government under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is working on the principles of good governance, transparency, accountability and public welfare, with the objective of ensuring that the benefits of welfare schemes reach every eligible citizen without obstacles.

Appealing to eligible women across Delhi, Dr. Gupta urged them to complete their applications once the online registration process begins on August 1. He also called upon BJP workers to actively spread awareness about the scheme and assist eligible women with the application process so that no deserving beneficiary is left out.

Expressing confidence in the initiative, Dr. Gupta said the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana would not only strengthen the financial position of women but also accelerate the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat and a Developed Delhi by empowering women to become active partners in the city’s growth and development.
