Residents of A Block and B Block in Dilshad Garden, East Delhi, are raising serious concerns over the growing monkey menace, saying the situation has become a daily threat to public safety and normal life.


According to local residents, groups of monkeys roam through residential lanes, terraces, balconies, and parks throughout the day. They are frequently seen snatching food from pedestrians, entering homes through open windows, damaging water tanks, flower pots, and household items, and creating panic among children, senior citizens, and women.


Several residents allege that monkeys have become increasingly aggressive, with reports of bites and scratches causing fear of injuries and infections. Parents say children are reluctant to play outdoors, while elderly residents often avoid morning and evening walks because of the risk of attacks.


Residents claim that repeated complaints to the concerned civic authorities have not resulted in a lasting solution. They are urging the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and the Delhi Forest and Wildlife Department to take immediate and humane measures to control the monkey population through scientific capture, relocation, and public awareness campaigns discouraging the feeding of wild animals. Similar concerns about monkey-related incidents have also been reported in other parts of Delhi, highlighting the need for a coordinated city-wide response.


The people of A Block and B Block have appealed to the authorities to treat the issue as a matter of public safety before a more serious incident occurs. They hope prompt intervention will restore a sense of security and allow residents to carry out their daily activities without fear.
