The 36th Annual General Body Meeting of the Railway Pensioners Welfare Association, New Delhi, was held successfully at Himachal Bhavan, Mandi House. Established in 1988 under Northern Railway, the association continues to stand as one of the most prominent platforms representing the concerns of railway pensioners. A large number of senior citizens marked their presence, reflecting both solidarity and growing concern over unresolved pension-related issues.


DA Arrears and OPS Restoration Take Center Stage
Members strongly voiced their demand for the release of Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears withheld during the COVID-19 period. The restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) and the need for efficient, accessible, and error-free healthcare services for pensioners were also highlighted as key priorities.


While recent developments such as the 2% DA/DR hike effective January 2026 were acknowledged, members emphasized that arrears from 2020–21 still remain pending and require urgent attention from the authorities.


Distinguished Guests Grace the Occasion
The meeting was graced by Chief Guest Sh. Ashok Kumar, President, Central Government Pensioners Welfare Association, Phagwara (Punjab), who appreciated the association’s continuous efforts in safeguarding pensioners’ rights.


The event was further dignified by the presence of Guests of Honour Sh. A.K. Baijal, Sh. B.K. Gulhati, and Smt. Kamla Katyal (95 years), whose presence inspired attendees and underscored the spirit of lifelong service and commitment.
