Former Union Minister Shri Ajay Maken, exposing the so-called fake Education and Transport models of the Kejriwal Government at a press conference at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan here today, said that in the whole world, AAP Government in Delhi was the only one where the Education and Excise Minister was the same man—Manish Sisodia—who wore the mask of education to commit the crime of  liquor scam. He said that the people of Delhi have now fully understood the fake models of Kejriwal and are determined to vote for the Congress on February 5, to bring back the Sheila Dikshit-led Congress Government’s model of development and progress. He said that   when Congress comes to power, every demand of the Capital will be met. AICC national spokesperson Shri Abhay Dubey and spokesperson Jyoti Singh were also present.

Shri Ajay Maken said that it was surprising that despite Delhi’s population increasing sharply, admissions of students in Government schools under the Kejriwal Government have come down, with fewer students passing out of Class XI, though the situation should have been the opposite.

Shri Ajay Maken, elaborating on the education and environment issues under the Kejriwal Government, said that his exposure would be the final blow on the corrupt Kejriwal Government’s misrule over 11 years.

Shri Maken said that during the Congress regime in 2008-09, 75,974 students had passed the 12th Board Exams, and the number rose to 147,420 when Congress demited office in 2013-14, but under the AAP Government in 2015-16, the students who passed the 12th Board Exams came down to 116,792 and the number further slumped to 109,098 in 2019-20. He said that similarly, under the Congress Government in 2013-14, 166,257 students appeared for the 12th Board Exams while under the AAP Government in 2023-24, the number came down to 151429   instead of going up, in proportion to the increase in the Capital’s population. He said that either students from Government schools dropped out, or joined private schools for better quality of education. He said that in 2013-14, the total number of students in Government schools were 17.75 lakh whereas private schools had only 13.57 lakh, but by 2018-19, the number of students in private schools jumped to 16.61 lakh while that of Government schools fell to 16.47 lakh, and this was the so-called Kejriwal’s “model of education”.

Shri Ajay Maken said that the main cause of Delhi’s air pollution was the large number of vehicles on the roads due to the disturbed public transport system, and not because of stubble-burning by farmers. He said that  Kejriwal put the blame on the farmers for his own incompetence and inability to control  air pollution. He said that according to TERI, vehicular emissions, which was 28 per cent in 2016, accounted for 47% of the total estimated PM2.5 in the Capital.

He said that according to TERI/PRS Legislative Research, which provides such data to MPs and Legislators, average sectoral contributions in PM2.5 concentration in Delhi (2018) were:

Industry: 30% in winter and 22% in summer

Transport: 28% and 17%

Dust: (soil, road and construction): 17% and 38%

Stubble burning: 4% and 7%

Shri Ajay Maken said that Delhi roads see approximately 1800 new vehicles daily as vehicles account for the largest contribution to the toxic air. He said that the reason for more private vehicles plying on the road was the reduction of the passenger carrying capacity of DTC. He said that when Congress was in power in 2012-13, DTC carried 46.77 lakh passengers per day while the number fell sharply to 24.43 lakh by August 2024 under AAP Government. He said that the number of buses in the DTC fleet fell from 5609 in 2012-13 to 4541 in August 2024,  and the number of DTC depots fell from 43 to 38. He said that even when new buses are hired, there would not be any parking space. He said that when Congress left power, there were 1440 overaged buses in the DTC fleet and the number rose to 2866 over aged buses, which in per centage terms, was 64.1 per cent.
