Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch.Anil Kumar said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, instead of placing a non-confidence motion in the Delhi Assembly by the ruling party against its own Government after the BJP backed out its plans to introduce a no-confidence motion, should have talked about  the problems and issues affecting the people, and the Government’s solution to them, instead of indulging in  this pointless gimmick to waste the legislators’ time.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that it was surprising that in his 16-minute long speech, Kejriwal did not talk about water shortage, air and water pollution, unemployment, price rise, education, health, corruption etc, as the Delhi Government had not fulfilled its promises made in the last budget and other previous budgets. He said that the last budget was named as a “Rozgar Budget”, promising to generate 20 lakh jobs in 5 years, but little progress was made on this front. He said that what was the need to bring a no-confidence motion when his party has absolute majority in the Delhi Assembly? By doing so, Kejriwal not only fell into the  BJP trap, but also wasted his precious time as well and that of his party MLAs.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that the Modi Government was misusing the CBI and ED (Enforcement Directorate) and other probe agencies to pressurize and scare Opposition leaders, legislators and MPs from speaking out against BJP’s misuse of power and corruption, including crony capitalism,  but instead of asking his MLAs not to be afraid of going to jail and if that happens he would take care of them, he should have asked them to concentrate on the implementation of the  Government’s development works. He said that the condition of roads and other infrastructure have deteriorated as their improvement works have been halted with the new Ministers, Saurav Bhardwaj and Atishi, who replaced jailed former Ministers Satyender Jain and Manish Sisodia, unable to come to grip with their critical new assignments.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that since Delhi’s Budget allocation was much more than some of the small fullfled States in the country, the Delhi Government should utilize budget funds for strengthening the infrastructure like roads, schools, hospitals and other issues affecting the people like water shortage, pollution, unemployment; price rise and falling standard of education in Government schools etc, which should be the top most priority of the Government Government. He said that the no-confidence motion was a pointless, time-wasting exercise, which was just a political stunt.
