Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar said that the Kejriwal  Government should immediately disburse financial compensation for the reconstruction of the houses, flats and shanties demolished by the Delhi Development Authority due to the wrong demarcation of the land by the Revenue Department of the  Aam Aadmi Party Government in 2021, about which the Delhi Government should have gone to the High Court to get a stay order against the DDA, but Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who remained silent when DDA bulldozers were running amok in Mehrauli, was shedding crocodile tears now after many  people were rendered roofless, almost overnight.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that had the Kejriwal Government’s Revenue Department not taken anti-people decisions by carrying out wrong demarcation of nearly 20 acres of land parcel, many people would not have lost their houses. He said that instead of indulging in petty politics, the Kejriwal Government should release financial compensation to the affected families forthwith for them to rebuild their lives and houses. He said that it was shocking that despite a court order to restrain the DDA from carrying out the demolition drive, it went ahead with the exercise till the Lt. Government intervened to stop the demolitions.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that the lawyers of the Kejriwal Government should have approached the court immediately after the DDA started bulldozing dwelling units, which  had all the required sanctions from Delhi Government Departments to construct houses, including installation of lifts, but the Kejriwal Government quietly colluded with the BJP in uprooting people from their houses, claiming that the land parcel was part of forest land and the Archaeological Park about which the Kejriwal Government maintained a stony silence, encouraging the DDA to raze down houses, flats and shanties despite vehement protests by helpless women and children, who now face an uncertain future, with children facing impending Board exams with their houses in rubble.
