Delhi Congress workers, under the leadership of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar, held demonstrations outside LIC offices and State Bank of India branches as part of the All India Congress Committee’s nation-wide protest against investing common man’s hard-earned money in the Adani Group by the Modi Government, with 39 crore policy holders and investors in the LIC losing Rs 33,060 crores in the last few days with the crash of share values of Adani Group companies while the SBI and other Indian banks have given huge loans with the Adani Group owing them about Rs 80,000 crores.
Chairman of the DPCC Communications Department and ex-MLA Shri Anil Bhardwaj said that Congress workers protested outside LIC offices and SBI branches in all the 14 districts of Delhi, as the common people had invested in these Government institutions reposing great faith in them, but shockingly, with the Adani Group shares taking a terrible hit in the stock market, SEBI, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India and the Enforcement Directore were keeping studious silence, with common people losing thousands of crores of their hard-earned money. He said that despite the Adani Group shares crashing for the past 13 days, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not uttered a word against his close “mitre” (friend). The Congress workers demanded a probe by a Joint Parliamentary Committee or a Supreme Court monitored committee to bring out the truth about the financial malpractice in the Adani Group .
Shri Anil Bhardwaj, who took part in the protest at the Adarsh Nagar District, said that due to the financial frauds by the Adani Group, the shares of LIC, parked with Adani Group, has suffered a 12-13 per cent loss in the past five days, but Modi had remained tight-lipped. He said that while the Modi Government was celebrating “Amrit Kaal”, the common man, whose money the LIC, State Bank of India and other public sector banks gambled in the Adani Group, was facing a stark future as the money from these reliable institutions were deposited under pressure from the Modi Government.
Prominent among those who participated in the demonstrations were Shri Anil Bhardwaj, ex-MLAs Mateen Ahmed, Hari Shankar Gupta, Alka Lamba, DPCC vice-presidents, District presidents Manoj Yadav, Javed Mirza, Dinesh Kumar, Gurcharan Singh Raju, Adesh Bhardwaj, Jubair Ahmed, Rajesh Chouhan, Vishnu Swaroop Agarwal, Dharampal Chandela, Satbir Sharma, Block presidents, Municipal Councillors, those who contested the MCD elections, Sewa Dal, Youth Congress, Mahila Congress and a large number of Congress workers.
AP, BJP make a mockery of people’s mandate in the MCD elections as they create a ruckus yet in the MCD House to disturb the Mayoral elections for the third time—Ch. Anil Kumar
NEW DELHI, February 6, 2023—Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar said that theAam Aadmi Party has betrayed the people of Delhi, which gave it a clear majority in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections, by disrupting the Mayoral election for the third time by clashing with the BJP Councillors on the issue of allowing alderman to vote. He asked why the AAP was rattled by the alderman getting voting rights if the new MCD Act has provision for that, or else the AAP can get redressal from the court if the Mayoral elections are held in violation of the rules?
Ch. Anil Kumar said that it seems that both AAP and BJP have conspired to disrupt elections to the posts of Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Standing Committee members as the third meeting session of the MCD House at the Civic Centre also ended in a ruckus. Ch.Anil Kumar said that as per the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act 1957, the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor are elected in the very first House that covenes after the MCD polls. However, it has been two months since the MCD elections were held and the Capital is yet to get a Mayor, giving the Civic administration in the hands of officials. He said that it was shocking that the first two sessions of the MCD House, held on January 6 and January 24, were adjourned without electing the Mayor, following the rukus created by the AAP and BJP Councillors, which was an insult to the people of Delhi and the democratic election process.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party was running away from taking charge of the MCD administration, knowing very well that it would not be able to fulfill any of the lofty promises it made in its MCD election manifesto, including levelling of the three garbage mountains in Delhi. He said that the Kejriwal Government had not fulfilled any of the promises made to Delhiites in the last 8 years, with air and water pollution causing havoc to the health of the people. He said that no new school has been constructed with most Government schools functioning without principals, vice-principals and teachers in key subjects, and corruption in every department held by the Ministers, particularly those under Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, reaching unprecedented levels.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that Congress had declared even before the first MCD House was convenyed that the party’s nine Councillors will not vote in the Mayoral election as both AAP and BJP had made it a mockery, as both these parties, who only make promises, were not interested in serving the people, as power was just a means for them to amass money through kickbacks, as Kejriwal and his deputy, Manish Sisodia through the Liquor Scam in which the Enforcement Directorate has charge-sheeted Kejriwal for his direct involvement in the liquor deal corruption.
