Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Ch. Anil Kumar said that the CBI raid on Kejriwal Government’s Excise Minister Manish Sisodia’s residence today came as no surprise to Delhi Congress as we have been demanding a probe on the Liquor Scam from the day the new Liquor Policy was implemented as Sisodia’s role in the scam was very clear. He said that the CBI raid on Sisodia was vindication of Congress workers’ relentless protests against the new Liquor Policy from Day 1.
Ch. Anil Kumar, hailing the CBI raid on Sisodia’s residence, said that the Delhi Congress had complained to the Police Commissioner and the Lt. Governor, with supporting evidence regarding the scam, demanding a CBI probe to unearth the extent of corruption and Sisodia’s role, as he was Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s proxy in the liquor deals.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that he had also written to Anna Hazare to prevail upon Kejriwal to stop this dangerous liquor gambit to turn Delhi in to a “Nashe Ki Rajdhani”.
Ch Anil Kumar said that the CBI should probe the connection of Deep Malhotra and the Punjab Government in the liquor scam, and how did liquor shops were opened in non-confirming areas in 18 Assembly segments, why didn’t the BJP MPs and MLAs complain against the flagrant violations of rules and regulations and why was the drinking consumption age lowered to ruin the lives of the students and youths. He said that Sisodia implemented the new Liquor Policy without the permission of the Cabinet.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that when people were dying in thousands due to shortage of medical oxygen, hospital beds and medicines when the Covid-19 pandemic was causing untold suffering among the people, Kejriwal and Sisodia were formulating strategy with the liquor mafia to introduce the new Liquor Policy, which got them thousands of crores in kickbacks.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that Kejriwal, who now ceaselessly talks about free education and health care, has not bothered to implement the same in Delhi for the past 8 years, which clearly exposes his duplicity as his words and deeds have no correlation.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that it was shocking that Excise Minister Manish Sisodia, who is also the Education and Health Minister, took the initiative to implement the destructive new Liquor Policy unilaterally, which caused incalculable damage to the health and future of the young, as not only the drinking age was lowered, but also indiscriminate concessions were offered by liquor vends to entice the youth.
