He said that in the present context, when the voice of reason is being crushed by the BJP Government through arm-twisting tactics and by creating an atmosphere of terror and fear, people would realize how important it was to live in a free country, by adhering to the rights and responsibilities guaranteed by the Constitution. He said that if India enjoys a prominent place in the comity of nations, it was because of the strong foundation and infrastructure created by visionary Congress leaders over the years, as the core principals of their governance was the progress and development of the country, and the welfare of the people.

He said that people are  fed up with price rise, unemployment and loss of businesses and livelihoods, as the focus of the BJP Government was to make a few chosen rich people richer at the cost of the common people in the country.

Shri Mukul Wasnik said that Congress party was committed to work for the interest and welfare of the people, whatever may be the hurdles and obstacles, and they will not be browbeaten by the high-handed tactics of the ruling dispensation, which instead of tackling issues at a political level, was getting personal by targeting the top leadership of the party with coercive methods. He said that the Aazadi Ki Gaurav Yatra will not only recall the Congress party’s matchless contribution in the freedom struggle, but also the development of the country post-Independence.

AICC in-charge of Delhi Shri Shakti Sinh Gohil, MP  said that the kind of suffocating atmosphere being created in the country threatens the freedom of the people. He said it was time people rose like a man to protect the unity and religious amity of the country as divisive forces were trying to create divide among the people on communal and caste lines. He said that the Yatra will create close interaction with the people and remind them of their responsibility to maintain communal harmony and protect the Independence of the country which the Congress party had secured after making great sacrifices.
