housands of Delhi Congress workers, under the leadership of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar, held peaceful Satyagraha in all the 14 districts of Delhi to protest against the targeted political vendetta against Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi, and misuse of the institutional agencies by the Modi Government at the Centre, as Sonia Ji was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate for the third day in connection with the National Herald case today, without an iota of evidence.
Ch. Anil Kumr, along with many Congress workers and leaders, were arrested and taken to various police stations in Delhi, though the Congress workers’ Satyagraha was peaceful, and disciplined. All district presidents, ex-MLAs, ex-Councillors, Block Congress Committee presidents and others participated in the Satyagraha.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that Congress workers across Delhi expressed their unflinching support to Smt. Sonia Gandhi, who was questioned by the ED for the third time, in a case without any evidence, only to harass and trouble her, without giving any consideration to her age and health conditions.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that Congress has a history of struggles and sacrifice, and the Modi Government’s move to put the Enforcement Directorate against Smt. Sonia Gandhi and Shri Rahul Gandhi on trumped up charges, will not prevent them from speaking the truth and fighting for justice for the interest of the people. He said that the Union Home Ministry was using the Enforcement Directorate and the CBI to crush the voice of dissent, but the Congress leaders were made of a very tough fiber, and they will not be cowed down by the threats and harassment of the Modi Government.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that the Modi Government has been investigating the National Herald case for the past eight years, after it was closed ten years ago for lack of any evidence of illegality. He said that so far, the investigating agencies have not been able to find anything incriminating against Smt. Sonia Gandhi and Shri Rahul Gandhi, yet they were questioned by the ED for three days and five days, respectively, only to put pressure on them and harass them. He said that there was no question of making any illegal gains by Sonia Ji and Rahul Ji as the National Herald media house was run on a “no-profit, no loss basis” and the ED was being used to target and Sonia Ji and Rahul Ji for political purposes.
