NEW DELHI, July 25, 2022—At the direction of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar, the Patparganj Congress Committee office-bearers, along with a large number of Congress workers, today gheraoed the office of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sidodia at Patparganj, and demanded his resignation for his involvement of in the AAP Government’s illegal Liquor Policy, implemented in the Capital in violation of  the relevant ruled and regulations. The Congress workers shouted slogans against Sisodia for making Delhi a Liquor Capital  by opening 2-3 liquor vends in every ward. Sisodia, as Excise Minister, went out his way to facilitate the implementation of the revised Liquor Policy, in a corrupt deal.

The Congress workers carried banners and placards with slogans such as  “Nai Excise Policy Ke Jimmedar, Manish Sisodia Istifa Do, Isitifa Do”, “Kejriwal Sarkar Sharab Ghottale Ka Bhrastachar Band Karo, Band Karo” etc.

Prominent among those who participated in the gherao were district president Advocate Dinesh Kumar, Ex MLA Amrish Gautam, Vice-Chairman of the DPCC Communications Department Shri Parvez Alam, Block president Vijender Choudhary, Rajbir Singh, DP Maurya, Satveer Bhati, Ravinder Popli, Ch. Rajender, Chander Mohan Sharma, Shakeel Ahmed, Vijay Tyagi.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that the Delhi Chief Secretary, in his report to the Lt. Governor, had found discrepancies in the Liquor Policy implemented by the Kejriwal Government on November 17, 2021 following which the Lt. Governor ordered a CBI probe. He said that to uphold truth and transparency, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal should immediately sack Manish Sisodia, who, as Excise Minister, was directly responsible in the corrupt deals with the liquor contractors. He said that it was Delhi Congress which first complained to the Lt. Governor and the Police Commissioner about the liquor policy, demanding a CBI probe into the huge corruption involved in the new liquor policy, which fattened the pockets of Kejriwal and his cronies.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that the Kejriwal Government had thrown out thousands of people from their jobs by privatizing the liquor trade, but has been fooling people with the false claim that it provide jobs to 10 lakh people in the private sector through the “Rozgar Bazaar Portal” though in reality just 12,588 people got jobs in the private sector. He said that the Kejriwal Government, in its “Rozgar Budget”, had promised an impossible 20 lakh jobs in five years, though thousands continue to remain as ad hoc employees in various departments of the Government, including 22,000 schools teachers.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that Sisodia, as Excise Minister, took arbitrary decisions to implement the Liquor Policy to favour the liquor mafia. He said that corruption was the operative word in the functioning of the  Kejriwal Government was established long back when 80 per cent of the Delhi Ministers were charged with various offences, and Minister Satyender Jain, who has been in jail for a money-laundering case, was the main fund collector, and after his arrest, Sisodia was tasked with implementing all the illegal decisions of Kejriwal, but the CBI probe will pave the way for Sisodia’s arrest sooner than later as there is clear evidence of his involvement in the liquor scam.
