Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been making one promise after another without doing any concrete work at the ground level to fool the people. He said that for the past eight years, Delhiites have been living on fake promises without getting any benefits. He said that the issues that needed to be addressed without delay have been left far behind, with Delhi’s development coming to a total halt. Ch. Anil Kumar said that Kejriwal’s announcement that the upcoming Delhi Sports University will provide degrees to sportspersons to help them get jobs is yet another lie as such degrees will have no relevance without the Sports Authority of India and the National Sports Federations under the Indian Olympic Association approving such degrees.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that Kejriwal has failed to fulfill his promise of giving lakhs of jobs to the youth, and now he is bringing out such futile schemes to pass on the responsibility of finding employment to the youth on their own without the Delhi Government extending any help. Ch. Anil Kumar said that under the Mission Excellence Scheme, Kejriwal claims to have distributed Rs 9.5 crore to 60 international sportspersons for their further training and exposure, without disclosing the fact that international sportspersons, who represent the country, get financial help and training facilities from the Union Sports Ministry and the SAI for furthering training. He said that the agreement between the Delhi Sports University and the University of East London only exposes the ignorance and incompetence of the Kejriwal Government, which does not recognize the degrees/diplomas given out by the SAI coaching schemes, and the expertise of former international sportspersons.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that it was very surprising that Kejriwal has come to the conclusion that poverty, lack of facilities and political pressure were the reasons for sportspersons not making it big, without realizing the fact that it was due to the facilities and talent hunt initiated by successive Congress Governments that more and more Indian sportspersons are now winning medals at the Olympics and World Championships. He said that it was the Congress Government which started the Special Area Games for talent hunt from the remotest parts of the country, and they were then given expert training to create a talent pool which is now delivering medals at international competitions. He said that in the past 8 years, lakhs of poor children have been thrown out of schools for their poor marks, and to create an artificial success rate of Government schools, which exposes Kejriwal’s concern for the poor. Ch. Anil Kumar asked whether the Kejriwal Government had any scheme to train the poor kids who perform calisthenics at Red Lights as they too can be moulded into talented sportspersons if given proper coaching and education.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that Kejriwal was selling false dreams to the unemployed youth in the name of the proposed Delhi Sports University as without proper validation of the degrees given by the University, the sportspersons studying in the university will only end up without jobs, as the Kejriwal Government does not have any clue to create excellence in sports through the Delhi Sports University.
