Congress candidate for the Rajinder Nagar Assembly by-election Smt. Prem Lata said that when people were going through untold suffering during the Covid-19 pandemic, both the BJP and Aam Aadmi Party leaders had left the people to their own fate while the  Delhi Congress stepped out to serve the people by providing them dry rations, cooked meals, sanitizers, masks, utensils, oxygen cylinders and other necessary items. She said that the people of Rajinder Nagar remember the help and support provided to them by the Delhi Congress, which will be reflected in the results of the Rajinder Nagar Assembly by-election. She said that people had lost their jobs and businesses had taken a major hit during the pandemic, but Aam Aadmi Party candidate Durgesh Pathak made a remarkable turnaround during this period, becoming a businessman from a mere ‘social activist’!

Smt. Prem Lata expressed her surprise that Aam Aadmi Party candidate Durgesh Pathak, who has no idea about the problems facing the people of Rajinder Nagar, particularly the severe water shortage affecting the area, though former area AAP MLA Raghav Chadha was vice-chairman of the Delhi Jal Board, has graduated from a ‘social worker’ in 2020 to “social activist-businessman’, which clearly exposes the level of corruption prevailing among the AAP leadership.

Smt. Prem Lata said that Durgesh Pathak had hidden the fact from the election affidavit of  the 2020 Assembly elections, when he contested from Karawal Nagar, that he was director of the Multiwire Enterprises Limited, though he was a director of the company since 2019. He had also concealed his income for the year 2019-20 in his affidavit, though he had shown his income for the years 2018-19 and 2020-21.  She asked Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal if this was the “Kattar Imandhari” (undiluted honesty) he was talking about ?

Smt. Prem Lata also charged that both AAP and BJP candidates were misusing the official machinery to plaster the walls with posters without permission from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. She said that money was being spent like water,  and she would file a complaint about this violation of rules, as the BJP candidate had admitted that the posters were pasted with his knowledge.
