Chairman of the Communications Department and Ex-MLA Shri Anil Bhardwaj said that Delhi Congress strongly condemns the communal violence instigated by the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party leaders at Jahangirpuri, and demanded a fair and impartial probe so that innocents are spared and the guilty punished. He said that it was shocking that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind  maintained  a stony silence about the violence, and took no steps to bring peace at Jahangirpuri. He said that Delhi Congress will hold a dharna at Jantar Mantar tomorrow morning (Thursday), 21st May, 2022 to bring peace and harmony at Jahangirpur.

Addressing a press conference at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan here today, Shri Anil Bhardwaj said that instead of  instigating division among the people on communal and religious lines, peace and brotherhood should be brought to  prevail at Jahangirpuri. He said that the BJP and the AAP leaders were playing divisive, communal politics and then blaming each other for the violence and destruction at Jahangirpuri, as the BJP accused  an AAP  MLA of  instigating violence  while the AAP made counter-charges.

Shri Anil Bhardwaj said that it was shocking to learn that Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta has written to the North MCD Mayor demanding “identification and demolition” of “illegal encroachment and construction” of those arrested in the Jahangirpuri violence, and bulldoze them down. Shri Bhardwaj said that none should take law into their own hands as there is a rule of law in the country, and courts are there to punish the  guilty persons. He said that no innocent person should be punished at the instance of political leaders who instigate violence. Shri Anil Bhardwaj said that bulldozer should be used to demolish price rise, unemployment and pollution about which Delhi Chief Minister and his Ministers have been keeping silent.

Spokesperson Dr Naresh Kumar said that both the BJP and the AAP Governments have made bulldozer as a symbol of governance, and Chief Minister Arvind has remained mum about the communal violence. He said that power is being misused by the BJP and the AAP, which is very unfortunate, as they should respect the laws and the decisions of the courts, instead of defying them.

DPCC president Ch. Anil Kumar said that the BJP and the AAP have totally failed to control the riots, and then threw charges and counter-charges against each other, which served no purpose, but only stoked violence. He said that Chief Minister Arvind should have visited Jahangirpuri and pacified the people to maintain peace.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that Arvind has once again shirked his responsibility, and  proved to be an incompetent Chief Minister, as he ran away from a challenging situation, as he had done during the 2020 North East Delhi riots and when the Covid-19 pandemic was causing untold misery to Delhiites.
