Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar said that with people observing religious festivals like Navratra and Ramzan, the BJP-ruled Municipal Corporations of Delhi and the Arvind Government have totally neglected in keeping areas near religious places clean and neat, as devotees have been complaining about garbage dumps at most such places, to dampen their religious fervor.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that there was so much corruption in the MCDs and the Delhi Government that the sanitation workers are never paid their wages on time, and because of that they often strike work to get their wages, which disturbs the sanitary condition of the city.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that due to un-cleared garbage everywhere, mosquito menace has become acute, and it was shocking that even in the month of April, dengue cases were being reported, which explains the poor sanitary conditions in the city. He said that neither the BJP and AAP Councillors nor the AAP Legislators were bothered about maintaining their respective areas garbage free, while Chief Minister Arvind does not have any time to spare for good governance in Delhi, as after the Assembly elections to five States, he was busy ‘focusing’ on Punjab and the forthcoming Assembly elections in Gujarat!
Ch. Anil Kumar said that when Congress was in power, it would always ensure before any religious festival to keep places in and around places of worship neat and clean, by specially posting sanitation workers around such areas. He said that it was the Congress Government which started making proper arrangements for Chhat Puja and other religious festivals, to facilitate smooth conduct of such festivals, but neither the BJP nor the Arvind Government bothers about keeping the city clean and the comfort of the devotees, as they are only interested in deriving political mileage out of every situation, and not people’s welfare.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that the Arvind Government has been taking ‘credit’ for its non-achievements as it was shocking to learn that 326 out of the 520 Mohalla Clinics were operating from porta cabins, without even bare minimum facilities like medicines, doctors and paramedics. He said that both the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party leaders make hollow, false promises to fool the people without doing any concrete work at the ground level, and un-cleared garbage near places of worship is yet another example of their empty boasts and non-performance.
