Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar said that Delhi Congress will start a “Phol Khol Yatra” on October 25, 2021, lasting 70 days, covering 70 Assembly constituencies, spanning 272 wards, and would cover 700kms to expose the corruption, lies, inaction, incompetence and inability to govern by the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party before Delhiites, as they have ruined the country and Delhi, and yet misleading the people as the MCD elections near, to cover up their failures.
Addressing a press conference at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan, here today, Ch. Anil Kumar said that the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party have raised corruption levels to such a height that the 15-year rule of the BJP in the Municipal Corporations of Delhi was a wasted opportunity as sky-high corruption made the MCD coffers empty, resulting in non-payment of salaries to the employees, including sanitation workers, teachers, nurses, doctors and others, while the BJP Mayors and the BJP and Aam Aadmi Party corporators became richer, as they are derisively called “lenterman” for the kickbacks they take from people who construct or renovate houses. Others present at the press conference were DPCC vice-presidents Jaikishan, Mudit Agarwal, Ali Mehndi and Shivani Chopra, and ex-MLAs Shri Anil Bhardwaj and Shri Surender Kumar. All the district presidents were also present at the press conference.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that Congress Party’s “Phol Khol Yatra” will thoroughly expose the corruption, non-performance and incompetence of the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party Governments, and the leaders of these parties who tell innumerable lies to the people to mislead them. He said that as the MCD elections approach, the BJP and Aam Aadmi Party leaders were at it again, making tall promises to the people, particularly those living in the JJ Clusters, unauthorized colonies, resettlement colonies etc. and the Congress’ Phol Khol Yatra will uncover the real, dual faces of these corrupt leaders.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that if Delhi is known for anything now, it is not for progress and development, but for making Delhi No I in corruption, Covid-19 pandemic mismanagement, unpotable drinking water, pollution, soaring prices of petrol, diesel, cooking gas and all essential commodities, unemployment, selling of public properties at throw away prices to the BJP cronies, and people’s financial plight, brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic crisis, which has forced lakhs of parents to pull out their children from private schools, and admit them in Government schools, as they battle an existential crisis.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that when Congress was in power in Delhi for 15 years, it had a clear vision to make Delhi one of the best cities in the world, which it achieved with unprecedented development, making the educational institutions top class, checking pollution with the introduction of CNG in public transport and autos, and banning kerosene, and starting construction of in-situ flats to resettle jhuggi dwellers, but the seven-year rule of the Arvind Government had brought all the parameters of progress and development in Delhi to the base level.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that when the Covid-19 pandemic made a fast spread in Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind kept himself cooped-up at his palatial official residence, without doing anything to help the poor people, who fled Delhi in lakhs in the absence of any source of livelihood while the Congress workers came out on the streets to help the fleeing poor people. He said that the Delhi Congress provided them cooked meals, dry ration, masks, soaps and sanitizers, made travel arrangements, gave financial help, and even arranged their stay at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan, and other places.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that over 50,000 people died in Delhi due to Covid as the Arvind Government and the BJP-ruled MCDs failed to arrange medical oxygen, medicines and hospital beds, with even crematoriums and burial grounds running short of space, and dead bodies remained piled up outside these places waiting for their turn for the last rites. He said that the Arvind Government announced cash award of Rs 1 crore each to all those Covid Warriors like sanitation workers, para medics, nurses, doctors etc. who died in the line of Covid duty, but only a selective few were given such awards, and the same was the case with those who died without getting medical oxygen.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that under the BJP and AAP Governments, attacks and sexual assaults on Dalits, particularly Dalit women and girls, had increased manifold, as according to data, Delhi recorded six rapes every day, to make it the Crime and Rape Capital of the country. He said that Dalits had never ever faced such atrocities before, as they are facing now.
Chief Minister Arvind, who would sit on dharna on each and every issue before coming to power, was now silent as Dalit girls were sexually assaulted almost on a routine basis. He said that Congress leaders Rahul Gandhiji and Priyanka Gandhiji had been taking up the atrocities on Dalits and the underprivileged strongly, forcing those in power to act, yet every effort had been made by the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party Governments to protect the criminals. He said that the BJP and the Arvind Governments also betrayed those living in JJ clusters as the promise of giving them in-situ flats was not fulfilled, as the flats constructed by the Congress Government, were being put on high rent, which the jhuggi dwellers would not be able to afford. He said that the BJP and the Arvind Governments also betrayed as they tried to sabotage and harm the farmers who were sitting on dharna on the borders of Delhi, demanding the repeal of the draconian anti-farm Laws.
