Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar expressed grave concern at the rising crimes against women and girls in the Capital, adding that the rape and murder of a 9-year-old Dalit girl at Old Nagal Rai Village in Delhi Cantt and cremating her dead body without informing her parents, has once again exposed the fact that Delhi has become unsafe for women, and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind’s deafening silence on the incident validates the lawlessness prevailing in the State, with the Delhi Government and the Delhi Police standing as mere bystanders. Ch. Anil Kumar said that AICC In-charge of Delhi Congress Shri Shakti Sinh Gohil wanted to raise the issue in Raja Sabha but the Vice-Chairman of RS did not accept his demand. Ch. Anil Kumar demanded a speedy trial by a Fast Track court, and Congress will not keep silent till the criminals are awarded the death penalty.

Addressing a press conference at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan here today, Ch. Anil Kumar said that Chief Minister Arvind, who made a big issue about the Nirbhaya case in 2013 to come to power, is shockingly silent on the rape and murder of the Dalit girl, which also proves that he’s a mere vassal of the Narendra Modi-Amit Shah combine ruling the Centre.

Others present at the press conference were Ex-MLA and DPCC vice-president Jaikishan, ex-MLAs Veer Singh Dhingan and Amrish Singh Gautam, Delhi Pradesh Mahila Congress president Ms. Amrita Dhawan and Smt. Darshana Jatav.

Ch. Anil Kumar, who visited the family of the murdered girl at Old  Nagal Rai on Tuesday morning, said that the Police made the poor family wait at the Police Station for several hours,  and was reluctant to file an FIR for rape and murder, and pressurized the family to compromise, but only when Congress workers strongly took up the case that the police was forced to file a strong FIR. He said that Congress will continue its fight till the criminals involved in the dastardly crime were given the death penalty. Ch. Anil Kumar also demanded protection for the family of the dead girls as they face threats from criminals. He said that Delhi Congress’ Legal Cell will provide free legal aid to the family of the girl.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that the poor Dalit girl was sexually assaulted and murdered when she went to fetch water from the crematorium near the place where her family was living, which calls the bluff of Chief Minister Arvind’s claim of providing potable water to every family in Delhi. He said that liquor bottles were also found at the crematorium which is a consequence of the Delhi Government’s liberalized Excise Policy. He said that CM Arvind has been promising that he will turn Delhi like London, Paris and Hong Kong, but the least minimum he can do for Delhiites is to ensure the safety and security of women.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that the Modi Government has spent crores of rupees to snoop on Opposition leaders using an Israeli spyware, and appointed a former CBI officer as the Delhi Police Commissioner just five days before his retirement, which shows the low priority accorded to the National Capital by the Modi Government.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that CM Arvind was silent on price rise, rise in the prices of petroleum products, a record rate of unemployment and the people ruined by the Covid-19 pandemic, but was trying to increase the salary of the MLAs from Rs 54,000 per month to Rs 90,000 per month, through the back door. He wondered whether the Arvind Government would also increase the Dearness Allowance of the Government Employees, and ensure timely payment of the salaries of the sanitation workers, and payment of the Rs 1 crore compensation to the frontlines Covid Warriors who died on duty. Ch. Anil Kumar said that when the Telephone Companies were giving 600 to 700 unlimited calls with data free, why the Government was giving Rs 10,000 telephone allowance to the MLAs every month.

Ex-MLA and DPCC vice-president Jaikishan said that when he heard about the case, he rushed to the Police Station and forced the police to file a FIR on rape and murder, instead of whittling down the case, which the police was compelling the family of the dead girl to agree. Another Ex-MLA Veer Singh Dhingan demanded that the Delhi Government  take strong steps to prevent recurrence of such cases, as presently, Delhi’s governance is in a shambles, due to the failure of the Arvind Government in all sectors of administration
