AICC In-charge of Delhi Congress, Shri Shakti Sinh Gohil, said that with the kind of impressive support the Congress candidates have been getting during his public meetings, corner meetings, road-shows and padayatras, it has become clear that Congress will win the by-elections to the 5 MCD wards on 28 February (Sunday).

He said that people have now realized that it was a very big mistake to re-elect the BJP to the MCDs and the Aam Aadmi Party to the Delhi Government. Zubair Ahamad, respectively, are experienced workers who have done grass-root level works in their wards, and familiar with the local problems,  unlike the BJP and AAP leaders, who swindled development funds to line their pockets.

Addressing a press conference at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan here today, Shri Shakti Sinh Gohil said that people were tired of the misrule and shadow boxing of the BJP and the AAP Governments, who have been self-obsessed without doing any work. He said that in the past few years, they only made charges and counter charges against each other, about fund misuse, stalled developments and corruption.

He wondered why they did not file FIRs against each other when corruption charges flew thick and fast. Others present at the press conference were leaders of the Congress party in the MCDs, Shri Mukesh Goel, Shri Abhishek Dutt and Ms. Rinku, DPCC vice-presidents Shri Jaikishan and Shri Mudit Agarwal,  and ex-MLAs Shri Anil Bhardwaj and Shri Adarsh Shastri.

Shri Gohil said that BJP and Aam Aadmi Party were two sides of the same coin, and their only aim was to cut into the Congress votes, but the people of Delhi have now understood their game-plans, and the by-elections to the 5 MCD wards will see people once again reposing their full faith in the Congress, for good governance.

Shri Abhishek Dutt, who is also one of the vice-presidents of the DPCC, Shri Mukesh Goel and Ms Rinku said that Delhiites were disillusioned with the BJP and Aam Aadmi Party, for their betrayal and unfulfilled promises, and want Congress back in power. They said that the Covid-19 pandemic was a testing time for the people, as neither the Modi Government nor the Arvind Government, fulfilled their promises of giving Rs 50 lakh and Rs 1 crore, respectively, to the families of the Corona Warriors, who died on Covid duty.

They said that it was a shame that the sanitation workers, and others actively involved in the Covid duty, had to strike work to get their salaries, as Delhi became a huge waste dump. They said that the Arvind Government’s Mohalla Clinics were invincible during the Covid virus spread, and many died without getting any treatment in over-crowded Government hospitals. They asserted that  Congress will win the by-elections.

Congress vice-presidents Shri Jaikishan and Shri Mudit Agarwal said that people will now vote for Congress, for development, efficient governance, and not for empty promises. They said that people elected BJP and AAP to power with much expectation, but their hopes have been terribly belied. They said that the BJP and AAP only indulged in blame-games and pilferage of funds, which led to non-payment of wages to the MCD employees. In the process, they said, the development of Delhi got stifled, stunted.

Shri Anil Bhardwaj and Shri Adarsh Shastri said that the curse of Delhi was the multiplicity of authorities, and the BJP and AAP did not help Delhi’s case either, with their constant bickering, which led to governance paralysis. They said that prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas have been going through the roof, but the Modi and Arvind Governments were unfazed, stridently refusing to reduce taxes. They said that with the common people struggling to balance their household budgets, the Arvind Government was busy contesting elections in other States, which exposed its lop-sided priority, which the people of Delhi have taken note of. They said that the collapse of infrastructure was the biggest curse inflicted on Delhi by the BJP and Aam Aadmi Party.
