Addressing a press conference at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan here today, Shri Anil Bhardwaj said that the by-elections will be  a ‘Jan Adalat’ (public hearing) as people can express their views and elect the Congress candidates. He said that the results are neither going to help form a government nor bring down one. He said that Congress will fight the by-elections with the slogan “Paanch Ward Ki Baath, Ek Nayi Shuruat; Congress Ki Haath, Dilli Wasiyon ke Saath”. Senior leader Shri Romesh Sabbarwal, who contested against Delhi CM Arvind from Gole Market in the last Assembly elections, also addressed the media.

Shri Bhardwaj said that the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party have been indulging in blame-games without doing any work, accusing each other of corruption and misuse of funds, through poster and banner-wars. He said that this kind of charade has been going on ever since the Aam Aadmi Party came to power in Delhi seven years ago, and if corruption was happening why have the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party Governments not ordered probes, and filed FIRs against each other? He said that there was no accusation of corruption and misuse of funds when Congress was in power in Delhi for 15 years, and BJP in the Municipal Corporations.

He said that Congress left behind a clean and green city, having done thorough development works in the national Capital. He added that the BJP and the AAP Governments, playing petty political games, have left Delhi in a mess, and only a Congress government can restore Delhi’s lost glory. Shri Anil Bhardwaj wondered what happened to Chief Minister Arvind’s pet demand of constituting a Jan Adalat, as he had come to power riding on the Jan Adalat bandwagon. He said that if a Jan Adalat was in place, many of the AAP and BJP leaders would have been behind bars.

Shri Romesh Sabbarwal said that Delhi Congress, at the direction of the All India Congress Committee, had begun a nine-series dharna on 30th January 2021, on the martyrdom day of Mahatma Gandhi, to protest against the severe exploitation of sanitation workers by the Arvind Government and Central Government-administered New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). He said that the second dharna of the series will be held tomorrow, Saturday, 13th February 2021 at 11.30 a.m at the Balmiki Basti in Gole Market where Mahatma Gandhi had stayed. He said that the first dharna was held at Khan Market in which AICC in-charge of Delhi Shri Shakti Sinh Gohil and DPCC president Ch. Anil Kumar had participated. He said that the remaining dharnas will also be held at Balmiki Bastis every week.

Shri Sabbarwal said that the dharna is against the demolition of the quarters of sanitation workers at Khan Market, all RMR (Regular Muster Roll) workers should be regularized, the appointment of sanitation workers (TMR) should be held forthwith if any member of a retired/expired employee of the NDMC is working with the organization, then he/she should be allowed to retain the Government accommodation, and address the issue of giving the DTL/SS scale to the NDMC workers immediately.
