Anil Kumar convenes an important meeting of senior leaders to deliberate on the current political situation and takes suggestions and the steps needed to strengthen the Congress in Delhi. The meeting passed three resolutions unanimously, requesting Shri Rahul Gandhi to take over as the president of the Indian National Congress, and demanding the resignation of Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind for their failures. Congress should start consolidating the position at the booth level from now onwards by exposing the failures and corruption of the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party Governments, and highlight the good work of the Congress so that the party will be in a strong position to face the MCD elections—Shakti Sinh Gohil.

An important meeting of senior Congress leaders was convened by Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan here today, and took stock and deliberated on the current political and economic situation in Delhi, and in the country, and passed three key resolutions unanimously, with loud applause.

Before starting the deliberations, a two-minute silence was observed to pay homage to the Congress workers and leaders, farmers and Corona warriors who died in the last few months. Those who died included ex-President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee, Shri Ahmed Patel, Shri Motilal Vohra, Shri Tarun Gogoi and Shri Shaukat Rana.

Besides Ch. Anil Kumar and AICC In-charge of Delhi Shri Shakti Sinh Gohil, prominent others who attended the meeting were former Union Minister Shri Jagdish Tytler, ex-MPs Shri Ramesh Kumar and Smt. Krishna Tirath, former Delhi Minister Dr Narendra Nath, Dr Yoganand Shastri, Dr Kiran Walia and Shri Haroon Yusuf, ex-MLAs and Municipal Councillors, party office-bearers and senior party leaders and workers.

Ch Anil Kumar moved the resolutions, and one of the resolutions requested Shri Rahul Gandhi to take over as the President of the Indian National Congress at the earliest. He said that considering the disturbed and dangerous political situation in the country, Congress needs a dynamic and powerful leader like Shri Rahul Gandhi at the helm, to lead the party forcefully, to counter the communal, authoritarian and undemocratic forces, trying to take the country on the path of destruction.

He said that Rahulji has been waging a determined battle to expose the misdeeds of the Modi Government, and his leading from the front as the Congress President was an urgent need to boost the confidence and morale of the Congress workers.  The two other resolutions demanded the resignations of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind, for their mishandling of the farmers’ tractor rally and the resultant violence in Delhi, and CM Arvind was also responsible for the present state of ruin of Delhi.

The resolution noted that the Congress party, led by Shri Rahul Gandhi, had forcefully protested against the black anti-farmer Laws inside and outside Parliament, and backed the farmers’ agitation, demanding the repeal of the Laws, which will be ruinous to the farm sector in the country, as the Laws were intended to benefit a few rich Corporate friends of the Modi Government.

The resolution noted that on Republic Day, 26th January 2021, some anti-social elements, backed by the Modi Government, had penetrated into the peaceful Tractor Rally to indulge in violence at ITO and Red Fort, in a bid to defame and discredit the peaceful agitation by the farmers, and thereafter at the Ghaziabad and Singhu borders to forcefully evict the farmers.

The two other resolutions passed unanimously condemned the Modi Government at the Centre, who passed the three anti-farmer Agricultural Laws to crush and ruin the farmers, who feed the country with their hard work, and the failure of the Arvind Government in Delhi in tackling the Covid-19 pandemic crisis, and the double standard it adopted towards the protests by the farmers, as it was acting at the behest of the Modi Government.

The resolution noted that the Modi Government passed the anti-farmer Laws in a sly manner with ulterior motives, without any discussion with the farmers, the farmer unions and the Opposition, and destroyed the country’s economy during the ill-planned Covid pandemic lockdown and re-opening.

The resolution also pointed out that in the last seven years, the Arvind Government had ruined Delhi in every possible manner, as time and again, it has proved that it was incompetent to steer Delhi clear of the difficult situations, like addressing the Covid crisis, pollution, unemployment and general economic distress among the people. The resolution said that on the one hand, the Arvind Government called a special session of the Delhi Government to endorse one of the three black anti-farmer laws while on the other hand, it again convened a special session of the Assembly in which CM Arvind created a big drama by tearing off the three farm laws, which was only to fool and mislead the farmers on strike.

Ch. Anil Kumar also gave a brief account of the hard work done by the Delhi Congress in the past ten months, whether it was in helping the migrant workers who left Delhi following the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown, providing dry ration and cooked food through the over 200 Congress Ki Rasoi across Delhi, feeding around 50,000 people daily, and some of the Rasois functioned for nearly three months, and over Rs 25 crore were spent for the free meals and ration. He said that Shri Rahul Gandhi, who praised the work of the Delhi Congress, visited Rajiv Bhawan, and applauded the Delhi Congress during the pandemic.

AICC In-charge of Delhi Congress Shri Shakti Sinh Gohil said that it was time for the Congress workers to close ranks and work unitedly to strengthen the party in Delhi, by following the directions and guidelines of  Congress president Smt. Sonia Gandhi and  Shri Rahul Gandhi.

He said that if the Congress workers start consolidating the party position from the booth level by informing the people about the party’s good work and expose the failures and corruption of the BJP, ruling the Municipal Corporations of Delhi, and the Arvind Government, then the party will be in a strong position to face the MCD elections. He said that Congress has a tradition of working for the welfare of the people whether it was in power or not, unlike the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party, who hanker for power by misleading the people with lies and falsehood, without doing anything.
