Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Ch. Anil Kumar has written to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind and the Akshardham Temple Managing Committee, pointing out the inappropriateness in allotting a liquor vend at the Akshardham Metro Station Mall, in front of the temple, which has not only besmirched the sanctity of the temple but has also created insecurity among women, as thousands of women use the Akshardham Metro Station as a transit point for their daily commute. 

Ch Anil Kumar said that the Congress party was against allotment of liquor vends in sopping malls, particularly in metro stations, and demanded the cancellation of the liquor vend licence at Akshardham forthwith.

Ch. Anil Kumar appealed to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind to shut the liquor vend immediately, not only to maintain the sanctity of the place but also to maintain law and order, as the presence of a liquor vend will attract lumpen elements, creating fear among the metro commuters, particularly women, children and the elderly.
