Taj Mahotsav, an annual 10-day (from 18 to 27 February) event at Shilpgram in Agra has been cancelled due to the fear of Covid-19 spread, officials said on Saturday.

Taj Mahotsav, one of the most eagerly awaited festivals, is celebrated from 18th  to 27th February every year at Shilpgram near the Eastern gate of  “Taj Mahal”.

The Agra tourism circles expressed disappointment over the cancellation of the event which attracts tourists from all walks of life each year and artisans from across the country to display their arts at the Shilpgram complex, situated on the brink of the Taj Mahal.

Divisional Commissioner Anil Kumar has confirmed that because of the continued Covid-19 pandemic, it might not be possible to hold the 10-day event this year.

Nine fresh Covid-19 cases were reported here in the past 24 hours, pushing the tally to 10,348.
