Ch. Anil Kumar said The Mayors’ dharna outside the CM’s residence, and Arvind’s claim that he was kept in detention at his home by the police during the nation-wide farmers’ bandh on Tuesday, were mere dramas. BJP and the Arvind Governments together destroy Delhi with their inept governance and inefficiency, to ruin the Capital’s reputation of being one of the best green and clean cities in the world, earned during the Congress regime, He added.
Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar said that the Mayors of the BJP-ruled Municipal Corporations of Delhi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind were indulging in shadow boxing by levelling charges and counter-charges and ‘fixing’ to cover up their failures and fool the people. He said that the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party Governments have woefully failed not only in checking the Covid-19 pandemic spread and deaths, but also air pollution, which continues to hover around the “severe” category. He said that the Mayors’ dharna outside the official residence of the Chief Minister seeking Rs 13,000 crores due to the MCDs from the Delhi Government and Arvind’s claim that he was detained in his house by the police, were instances to divert the people’s attention from the farmers’ protest against the three black Acts passed by the Modi Government at the Centre and the Delhi Government’s all-round failures.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that the BJP and the Arvind Governments together have destroyed Delhi with their inept governance and inefficiency, to ruin the Capital’s reputation of being one of the best green and clean cities in the world earned during the Congress regime. He said that the Arvind Government has cut down on development budgets for Delhi, and as a result, after Congress left power, all the development works in the Capital have come to a grinding halt. He said that the MCDs are not even able to meet the budgetary requirements, and have also failed to tap new revenue sources, which are abundant, due to corruption.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that the Chief Minister’s refusal to meet the Mayors protesting outside his house, and then claiming that the police had put him under home detention to prevent him from joining the nation-wide bandh called by the protesting farmers yesterday, was a big lie, as neither he wants to clear the MCD dues nor support the farmers’ cause openly, as he has already endorsed Modi’s authoritarian farm Acts, which was evident from his Government’s notification of one of the Acts on 23 November 2020.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that both the BJP-ruled MCDs and the Arvind Government were deeply entrenched in corruption, and the intensity of corruption in the MCDs was exposed recently when a BJP Councillor from Vasant Kunj was caught red-handed by the CBI for demanding a Rs 10 lakh bribe from a builder. He wondered how were the MCDs short of funds despite a BJP Government at the Centre, and the Corporations having several sources of income? He said that corruption in the Corporations have become all-pervading that nobody knows where all the money goes, as the MCDs are unable to pay wages to doctors, nurses, paramedics, teachers, sanitation workers, pensioners and social welfare pensions, while the Arvind Government claims that it has paid all the dues to the MCDs with Delhi showing no signs of any development.
