Synopsis:
Ch. Anil Kumar said that the farmers feel that the anti-farmer Acts, in its present form, would hand over the farm sector to a few chosen Corporates of the Modi regime, who would then exploit the farmers for their personal gains, to crush those who toil on the fields. He said that it was very unfortunate that Prime Minister Modi, his Agriculture Minister and other Cabinet Ministers, who talk about the welfare of the farmers, were trying to suppress the voice of the farmers by detaining them at the borders, without agreeing to their just demand of repeal of the black Acts.

Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, under the leadership of DPCC President Ch. Anil Kumar, extending full support to the nation-wide bandh called by the various farmers’ unions across the country, demanding the repeal of the three anti-farmer black Acts passed by the Modi Government at the Centre, held protests across Delhi today. Ch. Anil Kumar, along with a large number of Congress workers, protested at the ITO flyover on Ring Road,  and FIRs were filed against them.

They were illegally detained at the Indraprastha Police Station, but Ch. Anil Kumar said that such arm-twisting, and undemocratic actions by the Delhi Police, cannot curb their resolve to support the farmers’ agitation. He said that the farmers have been protesting at the borders of Delhi, braving the chilling cold and limited living conditions, demanding the rolled back of the black Acts, else they were prepared for a long haul of protests at the borders.

Besides Ch. Anil Kumar, prominent others who participated in the protests, were Kisan Cell chairman Rajbir Solanki, Ex MLA Amrish Gautam, DCC president Gurcharan Singh Raju, Shri Parvez Alam and SC Department chairman Sunil Kumar.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind, who had betrayed the farmers with the notification of one of the three anti-farmer Acts on 23 November 2020, was now shedding crocodile tears for the farmers by endorsing the Bharat Bandh to fool them. He said that in reality, CM Arvind has fully sided with the Modi Government’s farm Acts. He asked if the Arvind Government was keen on the welfare of the farmers, why were all the Ministers and MLAs of the Aam Aadmi Party Government not joining the farmers’ protests at the Delhi borders?

Ch. Anil Kumar said that the farmers will not back out from their protests, whatever may be their struggles and sacrifices, till the black Acts are repealed. He said that the draconian Acts will handover the farm sector to the Corporates on a platter, who would then decide the pricing, purchase of the agricultural products etc. at their own whim and fancy, detrimental to the interest of the farmers. He said that the farmers, who toil very hard to produce crops, vegetables and fruits to feed the entire country, even when the Covid-19 pandemic was surging across the country, will suffer a crushing blow if the Acts are implemented. He said that not only the farmers but lakhs of others who depend on the farm sector for their livelihood would also suffer body blows when the Corporates start calling the shots.
