Synopsis:
Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar that the Arvind Government seems to be unmoved by the Delhi High Court observation that “Kejriwal is playing with the lives of the people of Delhi, as he is late to understand the gravity of the situation”. He said that the people of Delhi have been served a deadly cocktail of Corona plus pollution combination.

CM Arvind is guilty of making people relax the Covid regulations due to his statement that “everything will be alright”- Ch. Anil Kumar added.

Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar said that the ever-rising number of Covid-19 pandemic cases, which has crossed the 8,000 plus daily tally, makes it abundantly clear that the Arvind Government has not taken any meaningful step to check the spread of the virus, and the Chief Minister has been putting the lives of the people with bluff and bluster, in the past nine months.

He said that the people of Delhi have been served a deadly cocktail of Corona plus pollution combination due to the inaction and inertia of the Arvind Government, which only tried to cash in on the misery of the people to get some cheap publicity.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that the Arvind Government seems to be unmoved by the Delhi High Court observation that “Kejriwal is playing with the lives of the people of Delhi, as he is late to understand the gravity of the situation”. Ch Anil Kumar said that the latest Serum Survey reveals that one out of every four Delhiite has been affected by the Coronavirus, adding that the survey also shows that 43.5 per cent of people, who were tested ‘positive’ initially, turned out to be ‘negative’ in later tests.

He said that this puts a big question mark on the reliability of the serum survey conducted by the Delhi Government. He said that if the serum survey is correct, then there was, on an average, 15,000 Corona cases daily in the past few months, which the Arvind Government did not disclose.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that Chief Minister Arvind was keen on getting media to focus on him every day, whether it was Corona or pollution, as his Government had failed to take strong steps at the ground level to tackle the deadly virus and the toxic air.

He said that more people have died of   Coronavirus in Delhi, including medical staff than the official figures project, and the Arvind Government’s irresponsible utterances and lack of preparation contributed to the quiet surge of the pandemic, which seemed to have caught the people of Delhi in a virtual death trap. He said that no wonder, the Delhi High Court has passed strictures on the Arvind Government at the manner in which the Covid guidelines were enforced by it.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that out of the nearly 3318 ICU beds available in Delhi, 82% are fully occupied. He said that in the general category too, there is heavy demand for ICU beds, and 75 per cent are full. He said that as far as ventilators are concerned, out of the 1283 available, 87.22 per cent are full, and it can be surmised from this that the Arvind Government has been spreading misinformation regarding the intensity and spike of Corona cases in Delhi.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that according to the affidavit submitted by the Delhi Government in the High Court a month back,  it was fighting to get 80 per cent of beds in private hospitals reserved for Corona patients, which will add 504 more beds every month, but the present situation is diametrically opposite to what the Arvind Government had claimed.

Ch. Anil Kumar said that CM Arvind was guilty of making people relax the Covid regulations due to his statement that “everything will be alright”. He said that the faulty manner in which the Covid pandemic “lock and unlock” were implemented also contributed to the spike in the Corona cases, and wrecking the economy and lives of the people.

Ch. Anil Kumar said despite the toxic Delhi air crossing the severe level for the past seven days, the Arvind Government has not implemented stricter pollution control measures under the GRAP (Graded Response Action Plan) regulation, which is a matter of grave concern.
