The Department of Hindi Journalism and Mass Communication at Aditi Mahavidyalaya—affiliated with the University of Delhi—organized a successful and enlightening workshop on the subject of “Podcast Production.” A large number of students participated enthusiastically in this workshop. The objective of the workshop was to provide students with practical knowledge in the emerging field of digital media and to develop their expressive abilities and communication skills. It also aimed to inform students about the various avenues for building a career within the media sector in this digital age, as well as the employment opportunities available in the field of journalism upon the completion of their coursework.

The keynote speaker for the workshop, organized by the college, was Dr. Yash Vats—a Professor and Digital Production Specialist at Manav Rachna University, Haryana. The workshop was attended by Principal Prof. Neelam Rathi, Head of Department Prof. Mala Mishra, Dr. Rajni Maan, along with faculty members from various departments and hundreds of students. The workshop was conducted in two sessions. In the first session, Dr. Yash Vats shed light on the theoretical aspects of podcasting, explaining in detail its significance, utility, and growing influence within the digital media landscape. He highlighted that, in today’s times, the podcast has emerged as a powerful medium through which individuals can project their voice to a wide audience.

In the second session of the media workshop, he provided a comprehensive explanation of the practical aspects of podcast production. During this session, students received detailed information regarding conceptualization, recording, editing, camera framing, composition, distribution, and effective presentation on online platforms. Additionally, various methods of monetization were discussed, thereby apprising students of new career opportunities. He also informed the students that, upon the completion of their academic program, there exist numerous potential opportunities within the fields of print and electronic media. Moreover, today individuals can establish their own media organizations; one can engage in business by launching a personal news channel or a podcast production venture.

The highlight of the workshop, organized by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, was the practical session conducted by the students at the conclusion of the event. During this session, students gained hands-on experience in the entire process of podcast production—encompassing recording, editing, the utilization of camera angles, and presentation techniques. This exercise served to further strengthen the students’ creativity and technical proficiency. The Department announced that, with the objective of periodically acquainting the college’s female students with various media platforms, arrangements are made for them to visit media organizations and undertake internships in both print and electronic media institutions. Furthermore, every year, our students contribute their services to various newspapers, magazines, and news channels. Despite the college being situated in a rural area and operating with limited resources, these students are performing exceptionally well—thereby bringing laurels to the university.

Speaking at the workshop, the College Principal, Prof. Neelam Rathi, stated that the institution intends to organize many more such workshops in the future. She emphasized that the institute’s primary objective is to inspire students to learn more, foster their creativity, enhance their education, and cultivate greater professionalism within their chosen field. She also announced that the college would soon establish a dedicated Podcast Production Center for its female students, enabling them to conduct interviews with distinguished personalities from society—including artists, political leaders, and actors. Through this workshop, the students successfully mastered the nuances of podcast production. At the conclusion of the workshop, students shared their experiences, describing the event as both highly beneficial and inspiring; subsequently, the college administration expressed its gratitude to the keynote speaker as well as to all the individuals present at the workshop.
