World TB Day Event Highlights Public Awareness Drive and Key Role of Doctors

On the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day, a special awareness program was organised at the Chest Clinic in Shahdara, East Delhi, marking the formal launch of the “100-Day TB-Free India Campaign.” The event was chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of Shahdara South Zone and witnessed active participation from health officials, doctors, and members of the community.


Officials from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) were prominently highlighted for their leadership, reiterating their strong commitment towards TB elimination. They emphasized that public awareness and community participation are the most powerful tools in achieving a TB-free India.


100-Day Target: A Collective Mission
The campaign aims to intensify awareness and mobilize communities against TB. Officials stressed:
“TB-Free India is not just a government mission, but a people’s movement.”
Nutritional Support for Patients
To strengthen recovery and ensure better health outcomes, food baskets were distributed to TB patients during the program.
This initiative aims to provide both nutritional and emotional support, which is crucial during treatment.


Awareness Through Creativity
A drawing competition was organized to spread awareness about TB prevention and treatment. Participants showcased creative messages promoting early detection and cure.
Winners were awarded, boosting enthusiasm and spreading awareness at the grassroots level.


‘Nikshay Mitras’ Honoured
Individuals actively contributing to TB eradication were recognized as Nikshay Mitra.
The Deputy Commissioner presented awards, encouraging community-driven efforts in public health.
Doctors Emphasize Early Detection & Complete Treatment
Doctors at the event strongly highlighted:
Early diagnosis is critical
TB is completely curable
Incomplete treatment can be dangerous
They urged patients to strictly follow the full course of medication.


United Fight Against TB
The event concluded with a strong public message:
“Only collective efforts, awareness, and public participation can make TB-Free India a reality.”
This initiative not only strengthened awareness but also reinforced the role of MCD officials and healthcare workers in driving a people-centric public health movement.
