In a major step toward strengthening digital governance, the Government of Delhi is set to launch a WhatsApp-based governance platform in April, enabling citizens to access more than 65 government services through a single chat interface.
The initiative, titled “Governance Through WhatsApp,” aims to simplify access to public services by integrating multiple departments into one user-friendly digital channel. Officials confirmed that the platform is currently in its pre-launch phase, with testing and technical validations underway. Initially scheduled for rollout in March, the launch has now been deferred to next month.
Authorities indicated that the service is likely to be formally introduced soon after the presentation of the 2026–27 budget. The platform is designed to make governance more mobile-centric, ensuring faster and more convenient service delivery for citizens.
During the pilot phase, select services—primarily from the revenue department—will be made available. Based on public feedback, the platform will be expanded in phases to include a broader range of services across departments.
A key feature of the platform is its integration with the e-District Portal, allowing users to apply for certificates, upload documents, make online payments, and track application status in real time.
The system will also incorporate AI-powered chatbots, enabling users to interact conversationally while accessing services. Special emphasis has been placed on ensuring the platform is secure, intuitive, and accessible to a wide user base. Digital payment options, including UPI and net banking, will be supported, with instant digital receipts provided for every transaction.
Officials believe the initiative will mark a significant advancement in making government services more accessible, efficient, and citizen-friendly—bringing essential services directly to people’s fingertips.
