Experts from Leading Medical Institutions Discuss Genetic Screening and Advanced Therapies

In a significant initiative to raise awareness about rare diseases and modern treatment approaches, a “Care for Rare” Sensitisation Workshop was organized at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Mother and Child Hospital (SDN Hospital) in Delhi.


The workshop brought together leading medical experts from some of India’s most prominent healthcare and academic institutions to deliberate on genetic screening, emerging therapies, and the management of rare diseases.


The event was graced by Prof. B. L. Chaudhary, Medical Director of Lok Nayak Hospital, who attended as the Chief Guest, while Dr. Narottam Das joined the program as the Guest of Honour.

The workshop was organised by Prof. Seema Kapoor, former Director of Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya, with the aim of sensitising the medical community about early diagnosis, genetic screening, and advanced treatment options for rare diseases.


Experts from premier institutions including Maulana Azad Medical College, All India Institute of Medical Sciences Delhi, Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital, Agilus Diagnostics, Jamia Millia Islamia, and G. B. Pant Hospital also participated in the discussion.


During the sessions, speakers highlighted that timely genetic screening plays a crucial role in the early detection of rare diseases. They also noted that advances in molecular diagnostics and targeted therapies are significantly improving treatment possibilities for patients affected by rare disorders.


Medical experts further emphasized the need for continuous training of healthcare professionals and greater awareness within the medical community, which are essential for improving the diagnosis, management, and long-term care of rare disease patients.


The workshop served as an important platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration among doctors, researchers, and healthcare professionals, strengthening the collective effort toward better diagnosis and treatment of rare diseases.
