In a remarkable example of social service and humanitarian commitment, Dadhichi Deh Daan Samiti facilitated a significant skin donation at RR Hospital Delhi Cantt (Army Hospital), marking an important step toward promoting organ and body donation awareness in the country.
The initiative was carried out under the leadership of the Samiti’s Vice President Sudhir Gupta, whose efforts have been instrumental in spreading awareness about body and organ donation. Medical professionals and social organizations have widely appreciated this humanitarian gesture.
Seminar at AIIMS Highlights Importance of Skin Donation
A seminar held at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) focused on the critical importance of skin donation in modern medical treatment.
During the discussion, Dr. Onkar Singh from RR Hospital emphasized that army hospitals frequently treat patients suffering from severe burns and traumatic injuries, making skin donation extremely vital.
He stated:
“Greater awareness about skin donation can significantly help doctors treat severely injured patients and speed up the recovery process.”
Inspiring Decision by 86-Year-Old Sitaram Goel
The humanitarian act was made possible through the family of Sitaram Goel , an 86-year-old resident of Rohini, whose family consented to donate his skin for medical use.
The donation process was conducted in the presence of Sudhir Gupta and Samiti member G. P. Tayal, who coordinated the entire procedure and ensured that the donated skin was successfully handed over to RR Hospital in Delhi Cantt.
Eye Donation and Body Donation Also Facilitated
As part of the same humanitarian initiative:
Eye donation was carried out at Guru Nanak Eye Hospital.
Body donation was completed at AIIMS New Delhi.
Through this single family’s noble decision, skin donation, eye donation, and body donation were all carried out — benefiting medical science and patients in need.
Sudhir Gupta Emphasizes the Duty of Body Donation
Speaking on the occasion, Sudhir Gupta said:
“Body and organ donation represent the highest form of service to humanity. Even after death, a person can give life and hope to others through donation.”
He added that the Samiti has been working for years to promote awareness about organ and body donation across India and continues to encourage people to consider donation as a social responsibility.
Why Skin Donation Matters
Medical experts highlighted several key reasons why skin donation is crucial:
Skin grafting is essential for treating severe burn victims.
Donated skin accelerates wound healing and reduces infection risks.
Army hospitals especially require skin grafts to treat injured soldiers and accident victims.
A Message of Hope for Society
The initiative by Dadhichi Deh Daan Samiti serves as a powerful reminder that even after death, the human body can help save lives and support medical science.
Health experts believe that if such awareness initiatives continue to grow, India could witness a major transformation in organ and body donation culture in the coming years.
