In a categorical clarification on a sensitive national security issue, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has dismissed reports suggesting that the government is considering a mandatory 20-year “cooling-off” period before retired senior military officers can publish memoirs or books.
Calling the reports “baseless,” the minister asserted that no such proposal is under consideration, nor has it been placed before the Union Cabinet.
“There is no such proposal with the government. Media reports suggesting otherwise are entirely unfounded,” Singh said while interacting with journalists.
