Reiterating the Bharatiya Janata Party’s commitment to fulfilling its electoral promises, the Delhi government has operationalised nearly 45 Atal Canteens across the capital. The Atal Canteen in Seemapuri has emerged as a significant welfare initiative, providing nutritious, hygienic and wholesome meals at just ₹5 to the poor and marginalised sections of society.

The Seemapuri Atal Canteen serves 500 meals during the day and another 500 in the evening, offering a balanced plate consisting of roti, rice, dal, vegetables and pickle, with a total serving size of approximately 600 grams.

Gas Connection Documents Handed Over
The responsibility of running the Seemapuri Atal Canteen has been entrusted to the Micro Education and Social Welfare Society, which manages eight Atal Canteens across Delhi.

To ensure uninterrupted operations, Indian Oil Corporation Limited’s gas agency — Chandrakala Indane, Dilshad Colony — has issued an exempted gas connection with 15 cylinders for the canteen.

The official documents were formally handed over by Shahdara MLA Sanjay Goyal to the canteen manager Shashank Agrawal.
With this connection, the organisation will be able to receive up to 450 LPG cylinders per month, ensuring smooth and continuous food services for beneficiaries.

MLA Conducts Surprise Inspection, Dines with Citizens
During the event, MLA Sanjay Goyal conducted a surprise inspection of the Atal Canteen and shared a meal with social workers of Purvanchal Vichar Manch and journalists.

He expressed satisfaction over the food quality, cleanliness and management, calling the initiative a vital support system for the underprivileged.

“The BJP’s resolve is clear—no individual should sleep hungry. The Atal Canteen is a living example of this commitment, where the poor receive food with dignity,” said Sanjay Goyal.

Tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s Legacy
Recalling the ideals of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, MLA Sanjay Goyal said that the former Prime Minister symbolised political integrity, compassion and nationalism.

“Atal ji always stood for the person at the last mile. Good governance, sensitivity and service were the pillars of his politics. Atal Canteens are a direct extension of his philosophy, where service to humanity comes first,” he remarked.

Indian Oil’s Social Responsibility Highlighted
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rakesh Raman Jha, Proprietor, Chandrakala Indane, stated that
“Indian Oil Corporation Limited fulfils its social responsibility by providing exempted LPG connections to initiatives like Atal Canteens, ensuring timely supply of cylinders at appropriate rates based on actual needs.”
