Tax-free status will allow more people to watch the film : Yogi

The Uttar Pradesh government has declared the film ‘Godaan’, based on cow protection, tax-free in the state. The decision is welcomed by producer and director Vinod Chaudhary, the film ‘Godaan’, has been released nationwide in cinemas today, on this Friday.

This decision, taken under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, highlights the government’s policy of prioritizing cow protection as a social and administrative responsibility. The government believes that through this film, the message of cow conservation will reach society at a broader level and help connect the general public with the seriousness of the issue.

With the tax exemption in Uttar Pradesh, ticket prices will be reduced, enabling a larger audience to watch the film. Soon after assuming office, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath initiated strict action against cow smugglers, leading to large-scale arrests across the state. Clear instructions were issued to the administrative machinery to ensure stringent action in cases related to cow slaughter and smuggling.

The Chief Minister’s affection for cattle and his commitment to cow protection is evident from the fact that over the past nine years, more than 7500 cow shelters (gaushala) have been established across the state. In addition, over 12 lakh destitute cattle have been provided protection.

To further strengthen cow welfare and conservation efforts, Cow Protection Committees have been formed in every district, with the District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police appointed as nodal officers.

The film Godaan focuses on the protection of ‘Gomata’, her significance in Indian culture and a scientific outlook based on Panchagavya.


Prior to the release, the producer-director had met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. This two hour long feature film highlights the religious, social and practical importance of the cow.
