As Chief Minister Rekha Gupta completes one year at the helm of Delhi, the BJP-led government is set to place its governance report card before the public—blending development achievements with a clear political message. Beginning February 8, the Chief Minister will launch a two-week-long series of public programmes highlighting flagship initiatives, new welfare schemes and infrastructure milestones achieved during her first year in office.
According to government sources, the campaign will kick off with a mega event at Ramlila Maidan, where nearly 500 electric buses are expected to be flagged off—positioned as a major push towards clean mobility and green transport in the national capital.
Healthcare Push: Ayushman at the Core
Healthcare emerges as a key pillar in the government’s report card.
383 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are now operational across Delhi, significantly reducing the burden on tertiary hospitals.
Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, over 6.71 lakh Ayushman cards have been issued.
This includes 2.6 lakh ‘Vay Vandana Cards’ for senior citizens aged 70 years and above, expanding healthcare security for the elderly.
Women-Centric Mobility Reforms
The Rekha Gupta government is preparing to introduce the ‘Pink Saheli Smart Card’ for women commuters.
The card will replace paper tickets with digital travel access in buses.
It is seen as a step towards a Common Mobility Card system, strengthening women-friendly public transport.
Pro-Poor Measures: From Food to Fuel
The report card highlights a strong focus on economically weaker sections:
Launch of Atal Canteens, offering meals at just ₹5.
₹1,000 crore allocation to the Delhi Village Development Board.
Continuation of free water and electricity schemes.
Approval for free LPG cylinders during Holi and Diwali for poor families.
Yamuna Cleaning & Drainage: Record Investment
One of the most ambitious announcements comes in the form of urban infrastructure reform.
Unveiling of the Delhi Drainage Master Plan 2025, aimed at overhauling the city’s 50-year-old drainage system.
The plan involves an investment of ₹57,362 crore.
The government claims all landfill sites will be eliminated by 2026, marking a major environmental commitment.
Roads, Schools and Core Infrastructure
The report card also lists tangible infrastructure outcomes:
150 km of roads renovated across the city.
Launch of 75 ‘Chief Minister Shri Schools’, equipped with smart classrooms, modern laboratories and libraries, modeled on the national PM-SHRI framework.
Clear Political Messaging
BJP insiders say Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is deliberately opting for back-to-back inaugurations and public outreach events to underline that her government believes in delivery over declarations.
The official report card is expected to be released around February 20, in a large-scale event—mirroring the BJP’s signature governance showcases, such as the 100-day performance reviews.
Political observers view this exercise as a strategic trailer for the 2027 elections, where the BJP is gearing up to pitch development versus allegations, positioning governance as its strongest electoral weapon.
With one year completed, Rekha Gupta’s message is unambiguous:
performance, not promises, will define Delhi’s politics.
