DTC is continuously running into losses due to corruption and irregularities, but the previous government of the AAP and the current BJP government took no concrete steps to free the DTC from corruption and losses. – Devender Yadav

NEW DELHI, February 5, 2026: Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) President Shri Devender Yadav has demanded an immediate inquiry into the misappropriation of over Rs. 22 lakhs in the DTC Employees Welfare Fund by the employees of the Social Welfare Department of the DTC. He said that on this issue related to the employees’ fund, the Lt. Governor of Delhi and the Chief Minister herself should intervene and take criminal and departmental action by registering a case against the guilty employees. He said that if possible, the Lt Governor or Chief Minister Rekha Gupta can also get the matter investigated by the CBI about the irregularities in the DTC department under his government.

Shri Devender Yadav said that there was fraud of rupees 22 lakh in the welfare fund of the DTC employees, which is suffering a loss of about Rs. 97 thousand crores, so how can the DTC employees do their duty in a stressful condition? He said that if a fair and thorough investigation is conducted in this case, then a large network of organized corruption and fraud spread in the DTC will be revealed.

Shri Devender Yadav said that the major reason for rampant corruption in DTC is that the post of Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) in DTC has been lying vacant for more than five years. The post of CVO in DTC has been kept as a nominal departmental officer under the provision of additional charge, while an IPS officer should be appointed on it full-time so that corruption cases in the department can be curbed and the investigated by a permanent IPS officer as per the prescribed standards.

Shri Devender Yadav said that action should be taken against the officials who gave their approval to the documents for defrauding the funds of DTC Employees Welfare Fund. He said that accountability of officers with transparency is very important to restore people’s faith in a public institution like DTC. He said that it is very sad that while lakhs of rupees have been embezzled from the DTC Employees Welfare Fund, the retired employees of DTC continue to struggle for their pension. He said that for the retired employees, pension is the only means of their livelihood as they have to constantly buy medicines for diseases in old age.

Shri Devender Yadav said that the DTC department of the Delhi Government is corrupt and full of irregularities, and despite the continuous loss suffered by DTC the previous AAP government nor the present BJP government has made any plans to control the losses of DTC. He said that Corruption in DTC is so rampant that the employees are embezzling lakhs of rupees from their own DTC Employees Welfare Fund in connivance with each other.
