DU Professor Hansraj Suman honored with Vidyanjali Award

The Vidyanjali Award Ceremony – 2026, dedicated to the objectives of education, service, and nation-building, was grandly organized at Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Vishwas Nagar. This event was held under the joint auspices of DIET, Karkardooma and Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal, North-East District. At the ceremony, 100 Vidyanjali volunteers who have brought positive change in the lives of students were honored. These volunteers have made a significant contribution to nation-building through education, guidance, inspiration, moral values, and building self-confidence. The honored volunteers are associated with civil services, medicine, law, higher education, school education, social work, the corporate sector, and various voluntary organizations.

The program commenced with the lighting of the lamp and a welcome address by the Principal of DIET, Karkardooma, Dr. B.K. Pal. He congratulated all the honored volunteers and said that Vidyanjali volunteers are a strong link in the education system, acting as a bridge between the school and society. Following this, the program coordinator, Dr. Raghav Acharya, welcomed all the guests and highlighted the objectives, achievements, and broad social impact of the Vidyanjali scheme. The chief guest of the ceremony, Honorable Ganpati Teti (Organization Secretary – Delhi, Haryana & Punjab), in his inspiring address on the role of volunteers in national resurgence, said that national resurgence is only possible when the educated class of society voluntarily comes forward to guide the future generation. He said that Vidyanjali volunteers are playing a crucial role in the all-round development of children through knowledge, values, and service, which is a strong foundation for a powerful and self-reliant nation. He said that education brings about change in society. Education makes a person aware. Vidyanjali has played a significant role in educating thousands of boys and girls and enabling them to stand with dignity in society. His inspiring speech served as a special source of motivation for the teachers, volunteers, and students present.

Prof. Hansraj Suman was honored for his important work in the fields of literature, social service, and journalism. It is worth noting that Prof. Suman recently published a book on New Media – “The Impact of Technological Changes on Hindi Journalism.” According to him, those honored included Dr. Anju Pal (DURCC East/District Coordinator), Dr. Pawan Kumar (Advocate and Educationist), Prof. Ashok Kumar Gupta (Retired Professor, IIT Delhi), Dr. D.P. Singh (Senior Regional Director, RC-2, IGNOU), Dr. Urmila Sharma (Director, Arvachin Bharti Bhavan Senior Secondary School), Mr. Sanjeev Sharma (Director, Bal Convent Public School), Dr. Vivek Kumar Gautam (Educationist and Poet), Mr. Baljeet Chauhan (Chairman, Ek Soch Ek Vichar NGO), Mr. Rajpal Singh (Delhi State Teacher Awardee), Dr. J.P. Singh, Dr. Akash Upadhyay (Assistant Professor, Delhi University), Dr. Hemant Gaur (Doctor and Young Entrepreneur), Mr. Arvind Pathak and Mr. Shanti Lal, along with many other educationists.
The program saw the remarkable participation of hundreds of Vidyanjali volunteers, along with CRCCs, school Vidyanjali in-charges, principals, teachers, and other volunteers. The ceremony concluded with a pledge of service, cooperation, and nation-building through education. Finally, Principal Dr. B.K. Pal expressed gratitude to all the dignitaries present at the program.
