In a significant move to enhance citizen-centric digital services, the Delhi government has taken a major step forward. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday inaugurated five new Aadhaar Seva Kendras, designed to bring Aadhaar-related services closer to residents. These centres will provide facilities for Aadhaar updates, biometric corrections, address changes, and child enrolments.
CM Gupta said, “This initiative marks a crucial step in strengthening Aadhaar services in Delhi and advancing the Digital India Mission. It will promote transparency, good governance, and citizen convenience.”
Under the proactive governance of the Delhi government, over 143 crore citizens across India are linked with Aadhaar, including around 2.5 crore residents in Delhi. The CM highlighted that Aadhaar-based biometric and iris verification has helped curb fake and duplicate beneficiaries, leading to the removal of millions of ineligible LPG, ration, and social welfare beneficiaries nationwide.
Further, CM Gupta noted that Aadhaar enrolment and biometric updates for children are being carried out in Delhi government schools, with nearly two lakh updates already completed.
This initiative underscores the Delhi government and CM Gupta’s commitment to efficient, transparent, and citizen-focused governance, reinforcing the Digital India Mission and ensuring that benefits reach those who genuinely need them.
