On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum 2026 in Davos, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav held a one-to-one meeting with the Maldives’ Minister for Economic Development and Trade, Shri Mohamed Saeed. The meeting focused on advancing cooperation across multiple sectors, with tourism as the common foundation, and explored collaboration in areas such as healthcare, education, wildlife conservation, and cultural exchange.
During the bilateral interaction in Davos, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that there are several areas where Madhya Pradesh and the Maldives can develop long-term partnerships based on complementary strengths. He highlighted medical tourism, fisheries, education, healthcare services, wildlife conservation and cultural activities as key dimensions of potential cooperation. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that Madhya Pradesh’s rich biodiversity, internationally renowned wildlife sanctuaries, rapidly emerging medical infrastructure and vibrant cultural heritage position the state as a capable partner for global collaboration. He emphasised that tourism-driven cooperation would strengthen investment, skill development and people-to-people contacts.
Maldives’ Minister for Economic Development and Trade Shri Mohamed Saeed described tourism as a natural and strong bridge between the two regions. He stated that the Maldives is keen to work with Madhya Pradesh to expand cooperation in tourism, human resource development and experience sharing.
Both sides agreed to institutionalise regular dialogue, encourage delegation-level exchanges, and move forward with a concrete roadmap for cooperation. The discussions held at the World Economic Forum platform in Davos are being viewed as a significant step towards strengthening international cooperation.
