“As long as there is breath in my body, I will continue to serve the people” — Former MP Jai Prakash Agarwal

On the occasion of New Year 2026, a grand interaction programme of Congress workers held in the North East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency once again reinforced the message that the roots of Delhi’s development remain deeply embedded in the ideology of the Indian National Congress. The programme was convened on the call of Mudit Agarwal, AICC Member, with a special focus on engaging the youth and conveying a powerful message: “The direction in which youth move has the power to change both destiny and direction of the nation.”

The event witnessed an overwhelming turnout of Congress workers, social activists and, most notably, a massive presence of young people, transforming the gathering into a sea of supporters. Speaking with one voice, the youth asserted that “if Yamuna Par was settled and developed by anyone, it was Congress — and once again, the time has come for Congress.”
The presence and words of former Member of Parliament and former Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Jai Prakash Agarwal (JP Agarwal) lent an emotional depth to the programme. Addressing the gathering, he recalled that during Congress governments at both the Centre and in Delhi, citizens experienced good governance, sustained development and a life of dignity. Robust education systems, modern public transport, an extensive network of flyovers and accessible healthcare facilities were hallmarks of that era, he said.
Expressing concern over the present situation, JP Agarwal remarked that the country is passing through a phase where even a dignified life for ordinary citizens has become a struggle. He alleged that current BJP-led governments appear more focused on divisive politics rather than development, resulting in stalled projects and a growing sense of neglect among the public.

Congress workers and youth leaders present at the programme echoed similar sentiments, stating that other political parties lack both a clear vision for development and an inclusive ideology capable of uniting society. In contrast, they said, Congress has consistently followed the principles of Sarva Dharma, Sarva Samaj and Sarva Samman (respect for all religions, communities and citizens). This, they noted, is why the development achieved during 15 years of Congress rule in Delhi continues to be remembered as exemplary.
Addressing the youth, Mudit Agarwal emphasized that the true strength of the Congress lies in its young cadre. He urged young citizens to embrace Congress ideology and actively work towards restoring Delhi and the nation on the path of development, harmony and dignity.
The programme concluded with a collective resolve that the Congress Party will remain steadfast in its commitment to ensuring inclusive growth, democratic values and a dignified life for every citizen of Delhi. The New Year 2026 gathering sent a clear signal: Congress retains strong grassroots support in North East Delhi and stands prepared to shape the future course of the capital and the country.
