The election for new office-bearers of the Teachers’ Association for the session 2026-27 at Shyam Lal College (Evening), affiliated with Delhi University, was successfully conducted under the supervision of Professor Anil Rai from the Hindi Department.

In this election, Professor Suresh Kumar Dhanda was unanimously re-elected as President of the College Teachers’ Association for the third time. Meanwhile, Professor Sandeep Yadav from the English Department was elected as Secretary. The outgoing President presented bouquets to both the elected President and Secretary, formally handing over the responsibilities and entrusting them with their new duties.

After the victory, newly elected President Prof. Suresh Kumar Dhanda, while addressing the teachers, stated that his first priority is to protect the interests of the teachers and to strengthen the academic environment in the college. He further said that the Teachers’ Association will make efforts to resolve issues through dialogue with the college administration regarding teachers’ concerns. Under his leadership in the past as well, the Association has focused on securing permanent appointments for teachers, promotions, timely payment of arrears, medical bills, proportional reservation for teachers from all categories, and clearing the backlog of academic and non-academic posts. He assured both recently appointed and senior colleagues that the Teachers’ Association will work with transparency, coordination, and a spirit of cooperation.

On the other hand, newly elected Secretary Prof. Sandeep Yadav, while congratulating the teachers, said that he will strive to make the activities of the Teachers’ Association more active and effective. He assured that teachers’ academic, administrative, and service-related issues will be taken up on a priority basis. He stated that a memorandum will soon be submitted to the college administration regarding the pending issues of teachers, and efforts will be made to resolve these problems within a fixed timeframe through dialogue.

Teachers extend congratulations — Senior teachers of the college expressed full confidence in the new leadership, stating that the experience and leadership abilities of Prof. Suresh Kumar Dhanda and Prof. Sandeep Yadav will give the Teachers’ Association a new direction. It is hoped that this team will play an important role not only in protecting teachers’ interests but also in the academic development of the college. With the formation of the Teachers’ Association, there is renewed hope for organized efforts on academic and institutional issues in the college.
